This is really good. 2.10.00 marathoner and no kit contracts, works full time as a school principal and runs for fun!
Some other good podcast guest too

2:10 is not competitive. The world record is nine minutes (2 miles!) faster for goodness sakes.
2.10 is faster than a lot of pros! So yup it’s fast

2:10 was well inside the automatic qualifying time for the last Olympics. Outside of East Africa and Japan it will put you on almost any country's Olympic Team.

Kevin Seaward - 30:30/1:08:00 runner before the advent of the super shoes, and then became a 105 and 210 runner with the super shoes. Not saying the super shoes were the only thing but I believe they helped him tremendously get to 210. Works in the Leicester area as a vice principal.

Kev was running much faster than that in non super shoes.
Certainly he’s faster again with them. But those times are well well out. He also ran Rio Olympic Games and came 4th in commonwealth games with ‘normal’ shoes.
So, in other words, this guy is no ‘average Joe’. The fact that he has no sponsor as an Olympian is just a testament to how hard it is to get decent sponsorships and money in our sport. Kudos to him tho for holding a full time job and training/racing at that level. That is a serious hunger and tremendous focus right there kids.
OF course, that being said….if he is a vice principal at a U.S. school, he runs the high risk of being accused of being a bad example for kids. Surely, there will be some parents that will complain that his hard work, strong work ethic and success makes their chubby, little, entitled, participant trophy wielding kid feel bad about himself and therefore, he should be fired from his job…..just had to put that out there.

Or he prefers a career that's far more stable than distance running long term so he accepts the demands and support of a day job over the fickle support and demands of a running sponsorship.

Luckily he is a vice principal at a U.K. school.
That wins every low key marathon. Imagine winning the Disney marathon 10 times in a row. All the glory and publicity and cool swag, excellent race photos. . We are doing this all wrong..
Kevin C Word. Lol
Jesus christ, why do you have to be in the top of your sport before you are good enough to be a pro. Look at all other sports. We want to put more focus on our sport, therefore, more pros to spread some vibes!

“Just had to put that out there” so you can feel better about your sad life? Seriously, hire a therapist and get off the running forum.
He ran a 62 minute half marathon before the shoes. Sure, they helped like a lot guys but two Olympics and considers running a hobby! It’s a cool story!
Lol….i appreciate that, except you have no idea who you are talking to, U might want to stop the judgment. Its simply a smarta** comment I made. I’ll be happy to teach you the meaning of sarcasm if it helps. Frankly, I believe we have a much weaker drive in our society b/c everyone is so entitled and anytime someone has a high level of success, in America, many seem to want to attack and find out whats wrong and what they did wrong in their pursuit of greatness. And I am an American just for the record. Wanna step to a track or the roads? Im pretty happy with how I still perform.
Let us compare Marathon to 400m, our best event in U.S.
2:10 Marathon or 130 minutes / world record of 2:01:39 or 121.65 = 1.06863954 or 6.863954% slower than Marathon world record.
400m world record, 43.03 x 1.06863954 = 45.98355939
In Kenya and U.S., by age 22 if a guy is racing 400m in 45.98, he has either moved on with his life or has transitioned to 800m.
Kevin is an absolute gentleman and obviously considers himself an educator first. Love that he concludes that having a job actually helps him run better. Pressure is off and his day job allows him to not get caught up in his head about running. What an inspiring teacher he must be to his students - lucky kids !
