Ryan Shay's heyday is long gone. It's time for this redneck to pack his bags a find a new sport. He's not good at all.

more from the same moron who made this same post about 2 years ago, only then the name was "Alan Webb", not Ryan Shay.
good luck breaking 40 minutes in your next 10k

Why are you people so determined to defend U.S. marathoners when they really suck. Meb and Abdi are from east Africa, they are now U.S. citizens but native born u.s. citizen can't run face it white boys.
Sorry, man, but Meb and Abdi are U.S. citizens and Americans. Accept it. Same as Legat. Get used to it.

RED ALERT: This is the same guy who made the first post. He has changed his name, exploited the no-registration requirement, and merely evaded growing a pair in favor of slamming Shay.
You are a coward. I concur with "nopers" except I would revise that to wish you luck in breaking 50 or 55 minutes in your next 10K. Maybe your mother will pack you a hot lunch for your mid-race meltdown where you sit on the curb and have a good cry with the other Gallowalkers about what a sorry piece of sludge you are.
Didn't Shay set a half-marathon PR about a month ago, by a full minute? I don't know what happened to him in NYC today, but he's hardly "over." He's also still younger than any of the other top American marathoners.
So Shay didn't PR today, in New York... like everyone apparently expects him to in every marathon because he's a US marathoner. If he doesn't PR, he's terrible.
So to everyone that wants to slam Shay:
What did you run at New York, today? You must have beat him... what was your bib number?
i like how every letsrun defense comes down to - if you can't outperform the person in the event you claim they are sucking at, then you have no business talking at all. so i guess that means we can never say bush sucks because we never were president. or sports critics and commentators can't say someone sucked unless they competed head to head with that person or were some hall-of-famer. ludicrous. i think the initial poster is way out of line in claiming that Shay sucks, but attacking an anonymous poster is almost as lame. attach his argument. who cares if he is faster or not.
So, a person can't know anything about the sport unless he can run fast, or vice versa?
Brilliant, just fu©king brilliant!
Shay has run 7 marathons, a race that, for many, allows only limited good efforts. He was a consistent 2:14 guy on any course.
But in his last 3 marathons:
-Hit injury before last year's trials.
-Ran 2:18+ in Boston.
-Slowed 3+ minutes from last year's NY effort.
It could be a training or busy race schedule issue. But maybe he really is done as a top national marathoner. It's not exactly a shot in the dark.

my bib number is 30...I ran 2:15.05...Just slight faster then Paula Radcliffe.

think of it this way: it comes down to - if you can't come within a MILE of the person in question, and you so rudely insult them, you open yourself up to the same level of insults.
I don't know Ryan Shay personally, but after watching his little temper tantrum at the 10K Olympic Trials, I hope the little punk never sets another PR.
i see where this is going wrote:

I'm sick of the negativity on these boards. Shay ran a nice pr at the world half marathon champs and was the highest US finisher ever I believe. Far from having his heyday long gone.
ouch

PR in the 1/2 marathon? Who cares...Until he run say...1:00 like Kempainen then we can argue. Shay is done. Retire man!!!

Forgot about that half marathon. But when any runner is notably subpar over the last year at his main distance, it's not being all that negative. Especially for a grueling event.
He's done and Abdi is next to go.
The guy is 26. He's hardly done. And as for Abdi, he set PRs in 2005 at 5000 and 10,000 and now a pretty hefty one in the marathon. He's even less done.

I think Abdi is the next to go. He sucks too.
