New mother Helah Kiprop dropped.
Rojas looks like she could beat the absolute sh-t out of everyone in the elite field, including the men. That's an athlete.

CJ’s body language: his facial expressions like blowing out and shaking his head, his occasional loosening of arms and fingers breaking form etc. says it all. He can’t be that uneconomical and pull off a win.
Ever heard of Emil Zatopek? Full sending it doesn't care about form.
Sure, but form changing for the worse during a distance run is a sure fire sign. Zatopek didn’t have that. Also, Zatopek is an all time all time great, so there’s just no comparison to what’s happening here.

I hope he pulls this off, but I image around mile 22 the wheels will come off.
Hoping he pulls it off is not going to happen. He will lose 30 seconds per mile and then be swallowed up quickly, very quickly
To be clear, he gets an A for going for it, but with the credentials coming up behind him, he's got no chance.
CBS coverage is brutal. Stop interviewing people there is a race on.
Never smart to go out at a pace 7 minutes faster than your PR
Not one of us thought he'd have a 40 second lead at 19 miles. Kudos C J.!
Does the peacock stream work for anyone? I just purchased and I can't get it to work. wtf

Actually the 5:01 on 16 makes sense as its downhill.
15 was uphill.
Here is the elevation chart.
http://archive.boston.com/marathon/course/elevations.htm15 1:13:49 0:05:20 Albertson / Still no sign of pack
16 1:18:50 0:05:01 Albertson / Pack out of sight
17 1:24:19 0:05:29 Albertson / Leader slowing slightly
18 1:29:38 0:05:19 Albertson / Leader was pumping up crowd as he turned onto Comm. Ave.
I mean he held up ok for 17 and 18. That's 85 feet up hill which would slow you down by 15 seconds. So think of that may be at 520 and 513.
The big hill coming up though. This will be the decision maker.
I called it
The chase pack is on 2:12 pace at 25k . What a joke. Go CJ.
gap less than a minute at 30km
Why cant they run the wheelchairs a few hrs later, so they can do their entire coverage.
People want to watch marathons to see RUNNERS.
Its annoying to break to see wheelchairs. Do it on their own time later. The reality is they wont get viewers, so now they have to annoy the rest of us.
This is a lose-lose for everyone.

Well, it was today. He had a .01% chance of winning at the start. He's now gotten beau coup exposure, set a half marathon p.r. and earned the respect of most of us on here.

Huh? I thought you said he was done
Fun fact: Mary Ngugi is from Nyahururu on the slopes of the Aberdare ranges. John Ngugi’s hometown.
Mile 19 for CJ 0:05:16
Now that's worrying as it's 15 feet downhill. I'm back to my original prediction. He's done.
Yep. And the leaders's splits have come in. They are only 54 seconds back at 30k.
He made it interesting.
CJ needs to get to the Girls of Wellesley to give him some extra incentive and speed not to bonk.
What they need to do is at least do a PiP of the runners when they're focusing on wheelchair coverage. They do it for commercials, no reason they can't do it for the races.
