The agent about Gjert Ingebrigtsen's contract unveiling: - Did he say that?
The popularity of Jakob Ingebrigtsen (20) is increasing in the USA. During the quick trip to Oregon, the family also managed to negotiate a new super contract.
The Norwegian took the time to thank the audience at Hayward Field after winning "The Bowerman Mile" during the classic Diamond League tournament on Saturday. Everyone wanted a piece of the Olympic champion.
- It's pretty cool and then it's a little extra fun to thank and give that little extra, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen to NRK.
It is already four years since he first really made a name for himself "across the pond", when he set a world record for 16-year-olds on the English mile. And he notices that interest in him has grown even greater in the United States since then.
- Absolutely. I have run here already four times and done well in many of them, and then I feel that when people are so interested here, they follow a little extra. It's a little fun to get that recognition when you first work so hard and do what you can after a discharge, he says.
- It is a way to build a profile and identity. His professional career started here, so he has a special relationship with this course and with the audience here, and those with him. He will probably be a regular guest here for many, many years, says Gjert Ingebrigtsen.
Extended agreement
But it is not only from the people the running family from Sandnes notices that the popularity has increased. Already as a 17-year-old, he signed a six-year agreement until 2024 with the equipment giant Nike. They are headquartered in Oregon, and this weekend the parties met again.
- It is clear that what he does in the Olympics and what he does again here ... Now they want him until 2032, sort of. Can you be decent and sign? So there is an ongoing discussion, says Gjert Ingebrigtsen.
- Did he say that? agent Daniel Wessfeldt answers when NRK asks about the contract extension.
The Swede is careful to go into detail.
- We have probably extended the agreement, you could say. And certain adjustments have been made that reflect his progress. He grows along the way in the deal. Then this contract is structured in such a way that if you get better along the way, it will be a better deal, explains Wessfeldt, who has several of the world's biggest athletics stars in the stable.
Dad pays
- How much better is this contract?
- It's so big so I do not know how to fit all the money, no, I'm just kidding. It reflects his quality right now. We are happy and he is happy, and above all, dad Gjert is happy, and that is almost the most important thing, says Wessfeldt and laughs.

There has been no shortage of inquiries to the agent after the Olympic gold in the 1500 meters. Both when it comes to offering sponsorships and the desire for him to participate in races.
- There are always five or six athletes that everyone is looking for in athletics and Jakob is one of them now, Wessfeldt believes, and calls Team Ingebrigtsen unique in the world of athletics.
Gjert Ingebrigtsen points out that all the agreements that are made are individual, but that the youngest running son has a very relaxed relationship with the money that flows in.
- Do you not get paid?
- I do not do that. The financial flow goes from parents to children and not from children to parents. There we are relatively clear and distinct. Jakob's is Jakob's, and if we go out to eat, Dad pays, Gjert Ingebrigtsen assures.
I wonder what 'Super contract' means?

it's like one of those huge ed mcmahnon checks
PUMA aggressively stepped in and tried to offer $4M/year to align Jakob with NOR federation/kit.
NIKE had first right of refusal and matched.
All are confident Jakob will be a favorite in 2024, regardless of distance, but could go for Seb Coe 2 x Gold in 1500m
True, would have been nice to have Warholm and Jakob with the same brand for Norway's federation
Puma's seem to work for Warholm, any distance elites that also wears Pumas?

So match the $4M or go above it?
Maybe length of contract was also a factor
Elimination of reductions up until 2024.
This is awesome. Thanks Clay. Gjert sounds like a very honorable, traditional gentleman.
I do hope the brothers are taken care of (if it's needed) for being the best training partners a brother could ask for.

Yes and do not forget to compensate the doping doctor!

well, those fellas don't work for free. that's a given.
Imagine if Jakob was caught doping. Rojo would spend countless hours, weeks, and possibly months writing about how he’s clean and then when a Kenyan tests positive he says good riddance without even considering any possible explanation.
Anyone venture the 5 or 6 super-contract athletes or "must-see" TV athletes??? I know Sha'Carri is controversial, but I have seen data on engagement that is worthy of those equal on list -
Sydney McLaughlin (USA)
Karson Warholm (NOR)
Mondo Duplantis (SWE)
Jakob Ingrebrigsten (NOR)
Sha'Carri Richardson (USA)
Athing Mu (USA)
Eliud Kipchoge (KEN)
Of note:
Elaine Thompson-Herah (JAM), Shelly-Ann Fraser Price (JAM), Ryan Crouser (USA), Grant Holloway (USA), Noah Lyles (USA), Yulimar Rojas (VEN), Joshua Cheptegei (UGA), Rai Benjamin (USA), Andre De Grasse (CAN)
Imagine if any of you screaming "doping!" without shred of evidence, was saying the same in a court room. You would be laughed out of there with your childish, never ending empty claims.
Jakob is clean and would rather quit than winning by cheating. And that is something everybody that loves the sport should appreciate.

Thank you for posting Jakob! How are you? Because if you are not Jakob you are for sure lying. That is a FACT! You just told us that you are Jakob as you told us you are inside his head and you know his thoughts. Thanks again Jakob.

^^^wacko city.
This board never ceases to surprise with the strange people that come out of the woodworks. Remember ventolin? Tonythetiger? Bizarre people with madman levels of perseveration. El keniano, Coevett, and passant are fast approaching that realm. Might be time for a rest, boys.
