Yesterday was my first day of cross country training this year in which we have run in 90+ degree weather (98 ish). It was very hot and I just felt exhausted the whole run. It was a recovery day, from the 400 meter repeats we had done just the other day. These 400 meter repeats may have been a contributing factor to my misery, but I believe it was mostly induced by the heat. It was a pretty average humidity of about 40% (or actually I don't know if that is average, I am not well versed in humidity values). At the end of the day, I was absolutely worn out, which was not very helpful considering that it was a recovery run. I had to slow down a ton, just to keep the effort below tempo. It is for this reason that I ask whether or not running in the heat has a benefit? Other than to be prepared to run in heat, of course.
Appreciate it, EGF
