I saw him run by with his homies yesterday and all I could think was: "How the F does a body like that run 4:20, much less sub-4:00?" Dude must have some serious pain-tolerance.
Agreed.
Dadbod already.
He is a guy, so he should be stronger than his gf automatically especially since she is a runner type
I guess Allie O won, although the form for some of the plank and the push ups was a bit suspect.
I don't see anything about that is "dad bod," but how can someone who is unemployed and has all day to exercise be so weak? That was pathetic. Doesn't he train at all?
30 half push ups is pretty sad
Allie O is out with injury again. So if spencer beats her at anything , She will get him back in a few months. He should walk around carrying her on his shoulders .
None of Allie O's push ups even close to count. Need another tie breaker. But her pull ups were pretty solid

Whilst it was just for fun, it proves an interesting point that he doesn't have the basic strength / core strength to beat someone at a physiological disadvantage AND who has had multiple problems with eating disorders
Maybe he wouldn't "rig" so much early on in races if he worked on this more.

People don't run fast because of pain tolerance. If that were true, then the people on this planet who experience NO pain (they exist) would be the best runners in the world.
People run fast because they have the physical tools (that does NOT include pain tolerance) to do so and then are trained.

After watching the video, it is clear Spencer is somewhat weak and that Allie has extraordinary bodyweight fitness. 12 pull ups is phenomenal for a female -- I am surprised she managed to do that many.

12 is a lot. That's almost as much as I could do when I was in the best shape of my life. However, it is a lot easier when you only have 100 pounds to pull up.
You could say she doesn’t have that much weight to pull up, but it is physiologically harder for women to do pull ups then men. Something about how the chest/ shoulder muscles work together I think.
They both probably could have eeked out a couple more if they went wider on the grip too

sure, but there is 100% a mental component to running and the majority give up/slow down due to psychological limitations rather than actual physical ones. i would guess all pros have a very high threshold for pain.

This is plainly false. Many a try hard as deluded themselves into thinking their 4:40 mile PR will improve by 10-20 seconds if they could just dig ".deep enough". Saying dumb platitudes like this to romanticize the "suffering" element of the sport try hards like to play up completely disregards aerobic capacity and lactate threshold realities. Once you start to "suffer", you're well into lactate threshold and cooked.
would like a word with you.
