She may or may not make the final based on her time, but she will not be a factor. Disappointing. Up until now I thought she had an outside shot at a medal.

Was she limping slightly?

Bunch of dopers in that heat
Purrier looked very nervous / had an odd facial expression before the race. Something seemed off.

Mcgee looked that way in the heats, they know they are up against it whether natural or chemical or both.
Hopefully just a bad day and she’ll be in 3:56-7 form for the final
she looked to be struggling the entire last lap. Very labored in her running form didn't look smooth. No USA 1500m females in the final is a surprise.

Purrier made it through

Purrier will be in the final with a q.

She might be - but the medals are going to be several seconds faster than that.

LMAO Purrier is more likely to be doping than the others. Did you see how her body has changed since college?
Some people deal with pressure differently and she’s very little experience of being talked about as a medal contender on this stage.
Then you’ve got Jess Hull who looked smooth and relaxed on that stage because nobody is talking about her as a threat.

several? maybe a few. OR is 354. these arent diamond league races despite what the predictions for mens and womens 1500 say. altho this track does seem to be ridiculously fast so could still some OR, but nothing close to WR.

We had a semi that finished in 3:56. The final is going to be fast especially for the front two. Gold and silver will go to 3:51-3:53. Off that pace, bronze should at least go to someone running 3:55 and they'll need to be able to kick off a hard pace.
Probably, she didn’t take her secret sauce. It’s difficult, to bring EPO’s to Japan. They are very strict on those kind of things.

Could easily see anything from 3:50 to 3:54. Look at the Doha final. All main contenders seem to be in better shape than 2019 as well.
God I'm getting so sick of every other comment about any athlete accusing them of doping. Why even watch the sport if you hate it so much ?
Then when a big athlete finally gets busted like houlihan half of letsrun will go through insane mental gymnastics to prove she's but innocent when someone like kiprop gets busted no one sides with him even when his excuse is better than hers.
So many mindless, spiteful, xenophobes on this forum. It was much better in 2013 and it was still bad then lol.
I think the bad sign was that she struggled with the change of pace. They went out in 45, then slowed down to a 66/67. When the pace picked up again she instantly struggled to match the pace change.
I wouldn't count her out: Tseguy looked exhausted in the semis in Doha and grimaced to 4:02 (or something thereabouts) and then dropped a 3:54 for bronze. But if it's not an even race she'll struggle. Still hard to see past a Faith/Hassan 1-2, with Muir, Gebreezibeher, and GDS fighting for bronze - the latter once again seeming to peak at the business end of the season (first time breaking 4 all season and it's in the semis).
Big shoutout to Jess Hull for a fantastic run too.

My sleeper medal pick is Gabriella Debeus Stafford. She looked amazing in the prelim and looked around in the semi to make sure she was safely into the top five before coasting in a 3:58 ish performance for third in her heat. Jess Hull also looks very relaxed, and could factor in the top five in the final. Hassan looked kind of tired after her race, but I still wouldn't count her out for at least silver.

Kipyegon and Hassan are both probably capable of a WR when fresh given the super track and super spikes. Muir is due a time in the 3:52.5 - 3:54.5 range.
Can’t see Hull or Debeus Stafford going that fast. I record the Canadian was fairly maxed out when she was training with Muir and ran 3:56 in Doha. Maybe 3:55 flat with the aforementioned spikes and track.
Don’t forget Muirs 1:56 800m where she accelerated very late and had to go several lanes wide.
