Incredible -
French Olympic swimmer Jordan Pothain is competing despite having been operated twice for heart issues related to arrhythmia and other heart problems. He finished fifth in his heat this morning with the excellent time of1:46.75.
Why am I bringing this up? Simply because many runners who have been diagnosed with arrhythmia, and this includes yours truly, were advised by their medical practitioners not to engage in strenuous sports. Different opinions and different practices by medical practitioners result in different outcomes.
I just watched him compete now and he has a beautiful fluid stroke in the 200 free.

HEART ISSUES
He was diagnosed with the Bouveret-Hoffmann syndrome [a type of irregular heartbeat that increases heart rate] after presenting arrhythmia symptoms at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. He underwent an endoscopy surgery in his heart in September 2018 but the syndrome was not fully resolved. He underwent a second surgery in December 2018 which fully solved the problem. "I got rid of it and I can feel the difference. Now, when my heart pumps up, it's due to the effort." (lequipe.fr, 08 Sep 2018, 10 Sep 2018; ledauphine.com, 07 Sep 2018; Monaco-Matin, 09 Feb 2019)
