Why are so many letsrunners supporting Sha’Carri’s ban?

there's a multipage thread about supporting her... I guess you can make up scenarios if you want, but I think most people want her to run.

Yes it’s a minor offense. That’s why there’s only a one month ban.

The bad timing of the ban is on her, her coach, her sponsor and her agent.

She’s a professional athlete. It’s her job to train, race, and participate in doping procedures.

She knew she’d be tested at the trials. If she’s that stupid to smoke dope, knowing she’d be tested, that’s on her.

Some people are not smart enough to do their job properly, just like Shelby Hullihan, who should’nt be eating any meat of unknown source knowing she is strict doping control.

Like any job, if you’re too stupid to do it probably, you lose that job.

I'm not arguing that she is not stupid and the onus is on her to comply by the rules. But the rules on banned substances should also be reasonable and the focus should be on preventing athletes from using substances that will provide them with an unfair competitive advantage.

Of course some of you point to racism. God forbid you actually have someone held accountable for her actions.

Sham is sometimes out there but right on the money here. All of the guys in 100-200-400 are black but are class acts and are supported here. As soon as a black is called out for anything in life, others jump in to label the enforcers as racist.

I don't like Sha'Carri's attitude because I, personally (and it looks like many others), don't like arrogant people. Skin color? That's irrelevant. I don't like Jakob Ingebrigtsen for the exact same reason.

Try to find the racism there if you can.

And get some help for your extreme insecurity.

And the medical profession is united in saying that alcohol and cigarettes are unhealthy and have damaging long term effects. Yet, they are not banned, and they are more addictive than marijuana (9%); smoking (32%); alcohol (15%).

So, a ban for nicotine and alcohol MUST be imposed if a ban for THC is required to "protect" athletes from themselves.

It's a personal thing, nothing to do with their skin color.

Pretty sure it is the opposite. Rojo loves special treatment for his favorite athletes. They should be allowed to take deca, push athletes in to lane 5, not have a qualifying times for the Olympics, and miss tests whenever they want.

Just as long as the athletes he likes get to race, that is all that matters.

The rules are reasonable. It’s only a one month ban. The timeline of the offense and the ban are on her.

I think they should let her go.

She’s a 21 year old kid who has a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a sensation.

Pot is now legal in most states now anyway, isn’t it? It seems like such a waste to have her miss the Olympics.

The flip side: The rules are the rules.

Let’s overturn the outdated pot rule and give this kid a chance to become a superstar!
