It has over 30 mm stack height without a carbon spring plate. Hardly can be called a flat anymore, its a trainer.

I got a pair, I don’t mind them, but they are more of an updated Boston than a flat.
Adios 3 was perfect, I wish they would bring that back.
19/27 vs 13/23. it's not the end of the world....
The entire new Adidas line is a downgrade in all ways from last years models.

Truth. I used to be an Adidas fan. Now I wouldn't touch them. They've either discontinued or ruined every model that I once liked.
It's really funny how running shoe trends go in cycles. In the 90s it was all about maximum cushioning. Then the minimalist trend hit. Now we're back to everyone running in high heels, to the point that it's hard to find a traditional racing shoe anymore.
Exactly! I loved the original Boost line. They don’t have a single shoe worth training in, their clothes are horrid.
I agree.
Add Supernova shoes in the downgrade.
Take care of your Takumi Sen's.
It's interesting that while Puma (&Reebok) goes up with its nitro (Forever&Fast) line running shoes Adidas goes down with its lightstrike post-boost & post adiprene+ era.
I used to train in Boston 9 and Adios 5. Now I train in the Adios 6 and if anything its a mega upgrade. Loving them.
The shoe companies are no longer interested in making shoes for serious runners who do more than just plodding and who run on their forefoot because they run so fast. Their only interest is the look and style of a shoe.
I have emailed several shoe companies telling them in detail what is wrong with their shoes and offering my time and work for free to help them design a running shoe that is made for true runners not for fashion modeling plodders.
I don't want to have to take the spikes out of my track shoes and use them on the roads because they can't make a decent shoe.
I am done with them though someone recently recommended I check out Xeros which I will.
Next week I am seeing a custom shoemaker podiatrist who makes running shoes. I am prepared to pay up to $700 just so I can run in comfort for ounce.
This is why in a previous post I asked what these runners in the Olympic trials were running in. They can't possibly be running in the lousy 3 inch high spongy sinking sole, flimsy, mesh, 4 hole lace, 3 inch across shoe lace shoes that feels like it would be a great gift for your competitor to cripple his feet and knees.
The new Boston is nothing like the Boston 9 and prior shoes. It is about 2 ounces heavier so not suitable for tempo runs or races. It too has a high stack height.
The fall of Boston happened first with the upper of the Boston 8. Many did not like the upper. At least it still used Boost from forefoot to heel like prior versions. I found that the outsole did not provide as many miles of wear as that used in my Boston 6 shoes. It was still good for 500 or so miles. Boston 6 made it to 600 with maybe more life remaining. The 2nd version of the Boston 8 switched to Lightstrike foam in the forefoot and switched to the distressed stripes. Some posters here at Letsrun stated they did not like the new foam in the forefoot. I am not sure how the Boston 9 design may have changed from version 2 of the Boston 8. As far as I know the mid-sole and outer-sole are the same.
Due to chronic forefoot issues I am currently using Hoka shoes. I hope to be able to wear my stockpile of like new Boston, Solar Glide, and Supernova shoes.. Otherwise I will have to see if there is any market for the last great adidas shoes in size 13 that still used Boost throughout the mid-sole.
So with the current weirdass lineup that the adizero have, is it acceptable to say that:
Daily Trainer: Adios 6
Race/Workout: Takumi Sen
High Stack: Adios Pro 2 (Unstable shoe based on reviews so far.)
I love the continental outsole but from the adios 3 to adios 5, i can see what downgrade y’all are talking about.
You’re correct that it’s not a flat anymore. Im not sure adidas really has a flat now unless they are still making the takumi sen.
however, im a big fan of the new adios 6. It reminds me of a cross between the bostons of old and the takumi ren which wasn’t available in us markets. I always thought the takumi ren and sen were much better flats than the adios. I do think for marathon training the adios 6 is a good tempo shoe. I do think there is a gap in the lineup for a 5k-15k speed training shoe though.
I also like the Boston 10 as a daily and will be alternating it with the adios 6.
Last years Boston 9 was a mess. The lightstrike didn’t work well and the heel collar lacked a cutaway and caused Achilles blisters.
Yea, the adizero takumi sen is still available. Not really sure about your side but there is supposed to be a tokyo version (red and white) and a black and gold ver.
Still there i guess.
Exactly! The Boost were amazing! TF did they do to a great shoe.
I’m with others here - now using the adios 6 as my Boston replacement as I dislike the Boston 10 so much.
If I could find a cache of Boston 6 or 7 in size 13 I’d buy all of them

Incorrect.
Daily trainer: Prime x/Boston/random
Race/workout: mainly adios pro and adizero pro, sometimes takumi sen

I have a cache of Boston 7 shoes new in box in size 13. I may have one Boston 6 new in box. I have some low mileage ones that I only used for a few races. I also have a cache of new Boston 8 version 1 before they switched to Lightstrike in the forefoot and switched to distressed stripes. For trainers I have some of the last version of the Supernova with Boost mid-sole and Continental outsole--not the cheaper shoe now sold by adidas as a Supernova. I have some of the first version of the Solar Glide. The only reason I am considering selling them is that I have a chronic forefoot issue that is age related that requires me to wear shoes that flex little at the forefoot. Let me know how to contact you if you are interested in any of these if I decide to sell some or all off.
PrimeX as daily trainer? Damn son. I can’t fathom the stack height on a daily run (and instability?).
And for the Adizero Pro. Has it became the plated shoe for workouts in adidas lineup. No longer their top race shoe.
check some reviews on those xeros. They are super flexible, like you can bend the shoe back. If they work, cool, but be warned.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
