On the negative side, he ran my half marathon pr for his 1st half split. On the positive side, I've run many faster marathons than the American mile recordholder.

[But that pacing is a real head scratcher.
This is the guy who ran a 12 point 100m in the MIDDLE of a championship 1500m. We’ve come to expect this of him
Are we all talking about the same guy?? The Alan Webb I remember has had more running accomplishments then I could ever recall. When talking about U.S. distance runners all time, who had a better range from 800 meters to 10,000 meters? Isn't he the GOAT?
Late 30s. Out of shape for several years.
EOM.
He needs to get some muscle back hit them weights maybe take some testosterone supplements and gain some youth back he looks sick
Olympian, American national record holder. Had some of the most dominant races in American history. He shouldn’t have to run another step in his life.
Dude should get fat and chill in his trophy room.
From Webb’s description of this race and the half marathon he did recently he’s clearly just enjoying being such a talented freak that he can spend the week on the couch and then go out and f*ck around with the race leaders for awhile chatting it up feeling fast and then just jog the rest of the race without getting injured. He’s having fun let him be.
I ran with Alan briefly at Grandma's. I think obviously the issue is he went out waaaaay too fast. If he had a plan and started at an appropriate pace, I think he could have run in the low 2:30s.
I passed him during mile 14 and said hi and told him that I had gone out too fast and would have a tough 2nd half and he said he also went out too fast.
Talked to him briefly after the race and he said he definitely will run another marathon. I am guessing he will learn from his recent half and Grandma's and take a better approach to the next races.
