Why does kipchoge never run in the USA? You’d think Nike would be like....bro, this is our biggest market come run Boston, etc.

He’s been chasing times
London is much faster than Boston except for the rare crazy tailwind.
London can count as a world record unlike Boston.
London tends to have a more competitive field
London is likely able to offer more appearance and prize money because it has nearly twice the amount of participants. You can’t fit 40k in Hopkinton.
Europe cares more about endurance sports.
London and Berlin are the most competitive events, also the fastest courses.
Also possibly he gets larger appearance fees at those 2.
He's voiced interest in the American events. Maybe if COVID hadn't happened he would have done Boston this past spring.
Eliud wants world records, therefore NY and Boston are out. I'm not sure why he hasn't gone back to Chicago, however, since it's a fast course and he's won there.
Boston is an Adidas race.
Chicago, Nike probably wants some USA based athletes to win it.

He ran Chicago a few years ago of course.

He was on a flotrack podcast last month saying he intends to run Boston, New York before he’s done with his career. Same podcast where he mentioned trying an ultra or two.
When was the last time an American marathon needed the world's best? It's been a very long time. This huge market OP speaks doesn't include anyone who knows the difference between 2:03 or 2:01. They read RW and think a 2:06 winner is great, and they don't really care which Kenyan or Ethiopian it is. Most of their money is spent on qualifying and running in it themselves, of which they are inexplicably proud.

Boston is a hobby jogger marathon as far as elites go. Yes, they have an entry standard and the non-elite field itself is faster, but at the front of the race, it’s like 3 2:08 dudes only.
Time difference is probably easier in Europe when travelling from Kenya, if he is chasing time, not being jet-lagged probably helps.
Yes, Boston has long gone the hobby jogger route and sold out to the masses that will happily pay the crazy entrance fee to “run” a 6 hour marathon.
Regardless, it has history that none of the other of the other marathons with all their money can buy. It is also a real course, designed before the days of lighting fast lay outs for world records. I would love to see what his times match up to on Boston’s course with the Newton Hills, unpredictable weather etc... before he gets too old and is past his prime. He has nothing else to prove in Europe, he should give Boston or NYC a go.

Even the great Abebe Bikila was humbled by Boston. Would be a great challenge for the kipster
He already ran Chicago in 2014 and won, not sure why he didn’t return to defend his title. Chicago could be a fast course too, remember, Kosgei ran a world record that beat Desisa’s breaking 2 marathon attempt. Would love to see Eliud Kipchoge run Boston and New York. He would of probably lost if he ran Boston 2018, just look at how he didn’t manage the weather well for the non stands London 2020 course. He was also in New York to congratulate Kamworor winning the NY marathon, but too bad he didn’t run it.
Boston is not a hobby jogger marathon anymore than other major marathons. In fact, you could argue it's much less of a hobby jogger run due to the qualifiers. It's a tough course tho, so I understand why he wouldn't want to go to Boston... but others like Chicago, CIM, etc.
Why would he "waste" a marathon on a course that's not legal. Suppose he has the race of his life and it doesn't count. He either does "sub 2" projects or real marathons with record eligible courses.
CIM is not a legal course either. Something Letsrun mention on every podcast when its mentioned. Strangely they never say that about Boston.

Because he’s done them all, won them all. Still seems that having the course record in NY or Boston would be a worthy accomplishment for him. Anyway, he said he’d like to run these races over the next couple of years.
They don't offer enough money and prefer to spend that money on American runners.
Kipchoge would rather chase times and than do an unpaced race.
He doesn't want to.
US major marathons are inferior to London and will not set up a time trial event like Berlin does. Kipchoge has been interested in racing for WRs and to go up against the best in the world on a flat fast course.
NY, Boston and Chicago do not have the kind of money London does to attract all the world beaters.
It is also just easier for E. Africans to race in Europe and the UK. No jet lag. 8 hour flight instead of 14+.

I'm surprised Nike hasn't persuaded him to come here with some big bonus. That being said, what else could possibly make him want to run in the US? Serious question.
