Wow. This guy is likely to be a very good runner in college as he appears to have tremendous endurance. He will likely break 28 in college.
I just looked him up. He won his state xc championship by 20 seconds. He has times of 15:12 and 15:13 for 5k. His pr's were 4:35/9:07. This seems to be just a huge breakthrough. 8:44 is a crazy time to get with a 23 second drop.
Puzzled how his 1600 m PR 4:35 could be at an average slower pace than his prior 3200 of 9:07 unless he almost never runs the 1600 m.

Well the 4:35 was in 2019. So there is that.

Hoot-Hoot! His fastest four splits were 4:16 but expect a modest comparison to his 3200 the first couple times out. The school record is 4:11 which is a good goal for him to chase at the moment.

Hoot-Hoot! It was a combo of being a neglected from his focus strictly on the 3200 and then the fallout during the pandemic changed everything. The 4:16 mark is the new proof and he can model workouts around progression toward his school record of 4:11. It was speculated among people last year he would perform a 4:16/sub-9 season or thereabout. Obviously he is a strength runner on paper at the moment.
Will this lad attend college in the fall? If so is he considering becoming the next great Badger?
