Looks like she has found her event. She finished just behind an Oregon girl. She’s now in a cluster with the Oregon girl and Charlotte Prouse (9:39 last week) behind Courtney Wayment (9:30) for the NCAA title

Katie still has eligibility left? Isn't this her 6th year?
last year didn't count Prouse is also 6th year.
This is obviously an attempt to get attention. She didn’t Pan out and get better in any event significantly out of high school or FR year at Oregon. 9:38 is not much better if at all from her stagnant performances of mid 4:30s or 9:00s. She will stay in the 9:30s or only get worse from there.
In fairness much of Rainsberger's collegiate career has been beset by injuries. It's nice to see her finding some success. As for the Oregon runner, Aneta Koneciek, who is a Polish woman who transferred from D2 Western Colorado, her 9:36 is a big improvement from her former PR of 9:57. It's still early in coach Helen Lehman-Winters' stay at Oregon, but I think she has good potential. She came to Oregon with less hype than Ben Thomas but I think she is a good hire.
The steeple is always a good event for those that are prone to injury

everyone on here is so negative. I understand that she had an amazing freshman year at Oregon, but she ran 4:12 in the 1500 indoors and 8:56 in the 3k right before the pandemic. 8:56 was faster than she had ever ran in high school and her freshman year at Oregon. She is a multi time all American, and ran the steeple three times in her life so far (10:00, 9:49, then 9:38). #4 all time in pac 12 history and broke Mel Lawrence's school record (an international level steepler) but yeah, sure, she didn't "pan out". She should be getting attention for a high level race, no matter what you think of it.

Ostrander's pr when she won steeple NCAA's in college was a 9:37, less than a second faster than Katie. Ostrander also won nationals in high school and had an amazing freshman year of college. Do you think Ostrander is washed up or "looking for attention" too?

Thanks for chiming in, Helen.
But the women's program at Oregon is a wasteland. Lehman-Winters' success at USF was due entirely to ringers. Seems to be trying a similar approach at Oregon, but with less success. I imagine Robert Johnson will fire her soon, as she's not generating enough success for him to take credit for.
Do you always begin your replies with a snide remark? Why don't you just limit your comments to what was said? I said that Lehman-Winters is a good hire. I'm not going further than that in trying to compare her to the best of the best. However, I do note that in addition to Koneciek (sorry if I misspelled her name), another transfer, Hannah Reinhardt (from SUNY Albany) had a previous best of 4:24 in the 1500. She lowered it this season to 4:14 and also lowered her 800 and 5000 times.
Time will tell if Lehman-Winters proves that she is the good hire I think she is. But so far I'm seeing some positive signs.
Some people are just negative and full of hate
Yep. There are some worthwhile discussions on Lets Run but then you see something like a recent post about why someone should be cyberbullied.

I'll bet you're a great motivational speaker
Lol at the idea of a track athlete being good at a new event being labeled as “trying to get attention.” What does that even mean? Should she have run slower to avoid “getting attention”

Your mom obviously dropped you on your head.
Word is, she was attempting to get attention.
You didn't pan out in anything significantly out of high school or FR year at community college. Your 11:30 was not much better if at all from your stagnant performances of 5:30 or 20:02. You will stay in the 40s never break 3hours and will only get worse.
