wow. I didn't realize there was a big thread on this as I was writing the recap . I had started my own thread as I wasn't sure who was at fault (I deleted it but it was posed as a question - Who was at fault (if anyone) in the Mo Ahmed, Eric Avila, Henry Wynne shove fest that took out Avila and Ahmed??)
Anyways.
I was wondering who people thought was at fault. I k ind of view what happened at the start as regular 1500 shoving. The problem was Ahmed was WAY smaller than the other guys and was moving around like a ping pong ball.
Yes, once he was going down, he didn't need to take Avila with him, but maybe he did that on purpose hoping to make it obvious there should be a re-start? If anyone is sanctioned, I vote for the starter. No excuse not to bring that back.
But before that is Ahmed really at fault? I don't think so but need to watch it again. Both avila and Wynne make some very aggressive moves at him.
Watch the very start, it's Ahmed that gets shoved half a lane right at the gun,
Then look at the 42-43 second mark in the slow motion video below ahmed is clearly ahead of Wynne and Wynne just decides he's going to come by.
The problem is Ahmed's not use to this rough racing and both times he seems to think whether he's being shoved by Avila or Wynner that flailing his arms is going to stop things.
So at the end, yes blame Ahmed. But before that? I don't tihnk so.
I also think the starter didn't let them get set at the start and that was a real problem.
Here is a video I made that has it at regular speed and then slow mo the problem is the slow mo doesn't show the very start.
