Is she even trying? A 100 hurdle 4th place finish and not much else. I thought she would at least run a open 400.

Big contract made a big head.
Maybe the 2004 Olympic gold medal winner in the 100H knows a little bit more about how to prepare for the Olympics than you. Ya think?
If you're referencing Joanna Hayes, she is no longer with her. She is with Bob Kersee now.
Anyway, there is a method to the madness if you even listen to the commentary of the meet. And he has the OT/OLY standard in her off event. I would say not bad.
My speculative guess is that she's making more appearances in these meets because of the contract but doesn't want to be racing a 400 hurdle all the time as it will interfere with her training so she's using these appearances to fulfill her contractual duty while getting in some work.
Supposedly she was running the 100h leading with her off leg this last race.
they talked about this on the last podcast. it's just a new coach changing things up to put their stamp on an athlete and show how smart they are.
She'll be fine. this is not a sydney being a diva thing. It's a sydney following her coach thing.

This is the same excuse they gave when she ran the shorter hurdles at the NB Indoor Games, and then they got her on TV afterwards. Wayyy overhyped. She should just be a model.

this post is ew
c'mon dude she was a WC silver medalist at 19yo and is the 2nd fastest 400h performer ever. get bent.
This is such a great Letsrun thread. Don't know her coach. Don't know which races she leds with which leg.
A 12.6 is actually a pretty good time.

Very good. She PR'd by .2s.
It's basically like a star 400m runner like VDN/Michael Johnson running 10 flat in the 100m.
She used to run a lot of short hurdle races when she was at U Kentucky. It builds her speed ya know?
The thing she doesn't do now obviously is relays to build endurance. That didn't hurt her at the WC in 2019 (she broke the previous world record time.. just finished second to the person that broke it more). But she was only one year out of college then.
Now, longer interval. So I think it is interesting to see what her coach has her doing? We'll see if it pays off in the next two months.
Also, 12.6 is a serious time... distance dweebs.
She's running great...at 100 hurdles. It's worth noting that it took until this week for Shamier Little to run 400 hurdles, while she's been killing it at 200-800 meters. Same deal for Rai Benjamin with him running 400m flat. Dalilah Muhammad hasn't run a 400m hurdles race yet. Nothing from Warholm, and just one 400m for Samba.
If anything, there seems to be consensus from top hurdlers to race sparingly in terms of the 400m hurdles. It's pretty much unlike any other event, and as a positive clearly Sydney is getting results and improving in the 100m hurdles. That being said, at some point got to put down a mark.
She is one of the most talented athletes in women's sprinting, she could likely run and event execept the 100m with some level of success. How is she overhyped

Or Fred Kerley. I don't see anyone giving him grief for running the 100.
She's smart to diversify. Any hurdle race already a super niche event, but the 100 hurdles has got to be 10x more popular than the 400m for the average person. I'd bet if you asked an average person to name every track running event, the 400m hurdles would likely be the last or 2nd to last one thought of.
I want to see what she could run in an 800. I'd bet she could flirt with 2:00.

Ya ,Lolo made a whole career based off a one of sub 12.5 .

Nope. She never ran the 100H for Kentucky. Not once.
I've noticed that she has toned down her social media. Is this because she found religion or a boyfriend?

She is likely focused on training as the Olympics are in a few months
She is stunningly beautiful but maybe it was just a bad day.
