You learned it in kindergarten: cover your mouth when you sneeze (e.g., block droplets). Masks aren't doing anything more than that to stop aerosolized Covid.

So it is actually effective?
Thanks

The reason I ask is there is no connection between the conclusion in this article and the title of your post.
“We argue there really isn’t much of a benefit to the 6-foot rule, especially when people are wearing masks” since everyone in the room is breathing the same air, Bazant said in an interview. “It really has almost no physical basis because the air a person is breathing while wearing a mask tends to rise and comes down elsewhere in the room so you’re more exposed to the average background than you are to a person at a distance.”
Without masks, however, Bazant said 6 feet would provide some additional protection against Covid-19 versus 3 feet.

Read the article. They say masks work to stop droplets in close quarters....the same as “cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough,” which has been kindergarten conventional wisdom since time immemorial.
Masks aren’t necessary, and don’t do anything to stop the most common form of airborne spread.
Government can't admit they were wrong with regards to anything. They need the trust and control of the sheep to fulfill their agenda.
They needed a study to figure that out?
Colds and flu have been around for 100s of years. Everybody knows when you are inside with a bunch of other people you have a greater chance to get sick.

...I left out the most important part, which is that the “droplet” theory of spread is now mostly discredited, having been replaced by aerosol theory, which the study authors freely admit masks are useless against no matter how far away you are.

This is like those environmentalist things: "It hasn't been this (cold/warm) since 1823! See! It's climate change and we're all gonna die!!!"
And they really believe it proves rather than disproves their point.

That's not what they said at all. Masks are a crucial part of mitigating the spread indoors through "respiratory plumes" in which particles are more likely to waft towards another person nearby and infect them, esp. if the people are not wearing masks. IF wearing masks, the particles are more likely to rise and get diffused.

But the totalitarian leftist thugs won’t admit it ... and they won’t back down ... and they’ll continue to abuse our kids with mask mandates.
Time to resist these anti-science thugs. Screw you Fauxci, Dementia Joe, Kommie Kamala and the rest of your gang of totalitarian thugs.
Well, it seems to me that there's no clear way of telling but ALL medical staff wear masks, and wouldn't do without them. Also, the chances of catching Covid in the street; now surely that's impossible to quantify! For example, in the UK, we have a "track and trace" system for trying to establish where people are catching the virus, but if it's in the street, there is no way that can be verifiable. Best play it safe and socially distance and wear a mask.
Now Fauci says that the transmission of the Covid outside is miniscule and that this is common sense.
You know.
Like we have been saying all along.
Our state enacted strict mask and distancing provisions for high school track meets. They are now routinely ignored. Covid transmission during outdoor sports does not appear to be particularly common.

I thought, that was the only reason to wear masks. But I have been wrong before.

Stop with this garbage. All medical staff did not wear masks. Before COVID doctors and nurses did not wear masks all day. Most that I know and have talked to about it only wear masks now because their hospital requires it - most also think it is useless and stupid to wear them all day. Surgeons wear masks during surgery but NOT to prevent virus transmission.
Covid theater... just a lot of posturing for no real reason.
It did crash the economy and get rid of Trump.
