Maybe Nowak can run faster yet. However when certain other runners run fast people talk about the shoes. Are the shoes playing any role here?

He was faster than the qualifying standard, ergo Olympic caliber. It's a simple concept.
No. That is now how it works.
The Olympic standard does not make one Olympic caliber.

But why did you even have to say it in the first place? Nowak ran the time that was set by the AOC. Running that time deems him an Olympic caliber athlete in the eyes of the AOC. It’s not Nowaks fault the standard is slower than you’d like it to be so why do you feel the need to come on this thread and attempt to sh1t on Nowak? Why can’t we just be happy he ran a PB, that’s pretty cool in its own right regardless of whether he hit an Olympic time or not
I point out the truth. It is not welcome by some of you. That is all.
You are not really pointing anything out. Everyone on this thread already knows it. It is like seeing someone’s ugly baby. Everyone knows it is ugly. There is no reason to, “point it out.” It just demonstrates low emotional intelligence.

You have to wonder what these types of people are like in everyday life.
It is interesting how the most intelligent posters are labeled with pejorative terms by the idiots. Pointing out that Nowak is not Olympic caliber does not make one an assho1e. Surely some of you obtuse folks can grasp this? Anyway great run by Nowak.
If someone feels the need to announce that they’re intelligent, they’re usually not. Epic fail, bud. And yes, you’re an @$$hole.

Then please share your personal definition of "Olympic caliber".

You assertion is irrelevant. I am significantly smarter than you. My pointing it out makes me arrogant perhaps but not ignorant like you.

I know it when I see it and the 3712th fastest performance of all time is NOT it. Especially with the modern tracks and shoes. No way.

Wouldn't making it to the Olympics qualify as Olympic caliber? You don't have two brain cells to rub together, do you?

You are not very bright. He cannot make it to the Olympics.

...but I thought you were inordinately intelligent? At least, you’ve tried to tell us that repeatedly.
Look, your posts read like a Russian Tarzan. I’m just trying to help you, smart guy.

He ran 8:21 and the standard is 8:22, so apparently he is olympic caliber. I don't think anybody said he was going to win, just that he ran a fast time and set a big PR.
Well, he may win. It may just be that those in front of him are all dopers and their times won't count. Which has happened before. Not many under 8:10 who are not dopers.

Oh please. He is not that talented is the issue. He is a decent national class runner. That is his ceiling.
The times don't count. They started on the wrong line. Sounds like it was about 80 meters short.
