Which is what we should have expected all along, following her amazing Millrose Games 4:16 AR mile last year.
So, the US women's 1500 Oly team prospects just became much clearer. Houlihan & Purrier (and not necessarily in that order) should be chased by Hiltz, Johnson, Osika, McGee, MacLean, maybe Grace, and a few others who round out the 12-woman finals. (Would love to see Cain sneak in there, just for the story lines, but that's a dream scenario at this point.)
However, there's a pink elephant in the living room that won't go away: wither Jenny Simpson? Still a 1500 specialist . . . or moving up to the 5k? Her 14:58 Oly qualifier a from BU indoor meet early last year could be a hint as to where her intentions lie . . .
