Still awaiting confirmation. May be 14.40.
hmmm....
The race doesn't have a UKA licence, it almost certainly won't count.
Put it this way; UK marathons without a UKA licence can't be used to qualify for Boston, so I doubt very much they can be used for world records.
Nonetheless, a stunning performance.
Previous PR of 15:24...
Those shoes must be really working. It would be good to know what shoes most other runners were wearing as
"With this being one of the first events in quite some time it seems all the hard training is paying off as swathes of runners ran PBs, with Potter’s race won by Lewis Gamble-Thompson in 14:25, a big chunk of his previous road 5k best."
Podium 5k does have a full UKA licence so it should stand https://www.runbritain.com/RaceDetail.aspx?eventid=74b908cd595d&raceid=7cbb0ac85863&returnlink=https://www.runbritain.com/races?keyword=&month=&datefrom=&dateto=26%2F03%2F2021&distance=®ion=&county=&profile=&raceType=&awards=&entrants=&page=5&pagesize=8&gender=0&onlineentry=0&responseType=html
The course start has suspisiously moved from the original course measurement.
The organiser has had race results canceled for being short before.
The organiser had there race licence taken away before.
Will be interesting to see what happens here.
I thought the exact same! Even went to look on Strava. The runner GPS start positions don't match the start position of the segment.... (Still a phenomenal run from Beth though and definitely a British Record)
Hate to say it but I'm suspicious of a short course.
Potter runs 40s PB (15:24 in Aug) and Men's Winner ran a 40s road PB too...

This is incredibly hard to believe I've got to be honest. But if this time is genuine it's got to be the most unexpected world record of all time...
Road race records (with track equivalents) are pretty dumb. So much variation. Nobody elite really runs them anyway.

Except Cheptegei (5k road WR holder, previously 10k WR) and Kipruto (10K)?
Sadly I fear this course is short. Rumoured to be closer to three miles. The remeasure will reveal all. The first KM was suspiciously quick and talked about on the live stream. I wonder did they get the start line wrong
See the other thread, looks like the race start has been moved from the original measured location
Easy to cut corners on a road course plus its measured on a different path than what is actually run on. Could be downhill too. With the shoes. Sub 15 not surprising. She would probably max out at the exact same time on the track but probably even slower realistically. Congrats on a fast time.
anyone know someone that ran it and can link a strava? might help in seeing if it's short

It has a full ARC license = won't stand.
"Looked surprised" = was looking at GPS watch throughout race and at 2.92 miles turned the corner and was surprised to see finish line only a 100 meters away.
no talk about the shoes she is wearing? the brand claiming to be faster than alpha/vapors?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
