Ten-and-a-half months out from double Tenex surgery to remove bone spurs & damaged achilles tendon tissue from both heels, looks like Vanessa is fully recovered & ready to roll towards the Olympic Trials:

Her 14:48/5k is an Oly qualifier while her 32:09/10k gets her into the Trials.
Most likely, she will make another attempt to achieve the 31:25 Oly 10k standard in mid-May after having spent a few weeks in Park City at the team's spring altitude camp.
Since the women's 5k comes first and is her favorite & most accomplished event, that will be her main focus at the Trials. If she's not top-3 there, then on to the 10k.
Presuming -- and this is a big presumption -- that Houlihan & Purrier & Simpson all choose the 1500, then looillk for the US women's 5k team to be comprised of athletes from a pool of sub-15 5k specialists including Schweizer, Rowbury, Cranny, and Fraser. (Note: Sisson has already stated she will only race the 10k at the Trials while Kelati is still awaiting her American citizenship).
In any case, Vanessa's choice to have double Tenex surgery was rare & risky but has worked out for her and should encourage others who have Haglund's Deformity that the Tenex noninvasive procedure could be their solution.
