During a particular route which I did this morning, I typically do a few miles at tempo pace once I get out of the town centre and onto a wide, flat path which goes through the woods.
I joined at a fork in the path and as I joined it another runner joined just in front of me. I could tell that he then sped up but it was a comfortable pace for me (around 6:35) so I just cruised behind him.
As time went on his breathing got heavier and he had to spit every so often to do the side... my breathing is quiet. This is where I felt awkward because I felt like I was spoiling his run. I was going to say something but I didn't. On the other hand it was his choice to speed up and wind himself? After 15 minutes he slowed right down and I went past.
Should I have said something in this situation?
