I'm going to flip on Furman, I think they should go but them complaining about their regional ranking on instagram is flat out embarrassing. If you were good enough to go the committee would see through that and take you. SHUT UP!

Oregon women and NAU absolutely should NOT make it off of conference results. If they do the whole process is a sham.
Oregon women were never making it. NAU men still have a body of work that gets them in regardless of a close second finish to a ranked team. You could make a better argument for Portland men missing out due to their conference meet and I still think that would be a stretch. You need to remember while the conference championships are the most important, they aren't end all be all. For this reason you could also make an argument against Furman as all they have is their championship race and didn't schedule another meet for their cross country season.
Furman was 14th last year and returned 6 of 7, won their conference, and are doing well in distance races. That should be enough.
Furman, what you did back in 2019 at NCAAs has NO bearing into getting selected. Read the selection RULES.
Agreed 6th and 9th don’t deserve a spot. What about 5th place duke?
Duke kinda sux let’s be real here

Where does UCLA come from. They couldn't even beat a bad Oregon Team. Oregon shouldn't be going so UCLA is one hundred percent out.
Oregon shouldn’t be going based on what? The Pac 12 is the best XC conference and should be sending 4-5 teams. Who would you have in over them?
No one is mentioning Cornell, they are a shoe in.
The Furman men were 14th at 2019 NCAAs and return six of their seven from that race. . They’ll be in the field and race well in Stillwater.
Oregon raced a C team at the most important meet of the season. It just shows their priorities are clearly indoors, which their coach ha been very public about.
That team that ran at PAC 12s is worse than most of the bubble teams being discussed and they beat UCLA.
So UCLA loses to a half ass Oregon team and just cause it’s the PAC 12s they get to go to nationals??!
All UCLA has done is beat bottom of the barrel PAC 12 teams like Arizona and Cal. You crazy if you think that’s good enough to go to nattys.
Selection rules say conference meet has the most weight. They can only win the conference they’re in. Correct me if I’m wrong.
University of Miami guys should qualify, they’d be pretty competitive in the girls race

Please enlighten me as to which teams should make it in then? Virginia is likely out due to covid 19, Syracuse didn’t run well enough at conference, meaning Michigan is out too.
Semi Agree. Definitely not an outstanding team, but Duke is a bubble team, which is why they are apart of this conversation. Do they deserve to go to nattys? Meh not sure. Did they beat Syracuse twice though? Yes. Interesting to see how the committee approaches this scenario.
How do you justify including a team like Furman or Michigan women who are definitely fast enough but have only beat a bunch of nobodies in a single race?? Honestly though. What’s the data driven justification here. I struggle to see it but and genuinely curious because I wonder if the committee is struggling with the same question.
I wonder if they will stick with this process. It seems to be generating some interest.
Yes, looking at yesterday’s results, Syracuse and Michigan are top 30 teams. So is Furman. But the committee isn’t selecting the top 30 teams they’re selecting the 30 teams with the best bodies of work in cross country this year. ‘Cuse choked at ACCs and the first FSU meet. Michigan only has one meet and it’s a loss, to said 6th-place-in-conference team. Furman may still get in because of conference win, but they are still soft for not running a legit cross meet. Yes their track times are good, but they gotta get off Instagram, hit the course, and beat a team I’ve heard of before they complain about being ignored.

Florida State should go too
Personally don’t believe Nova should go, swap them with Syracuse. Maybe throw Michigan instead of Texas, and then FSU instead of Duke. Talked with their coach, said they just had an off day when it mattered, definitely still a top 20 team.
