You’re right - it probably wasn’t necessary to highlight the negative here. But ... it’s a competitive sport. So of course people will point stuff out like this, because that’s kind of the point ...

McSweyn is the real deal. He is the ONLY one that would have a chance at making the US Team. The US has college kids running 3:50 miles and 3:34 1500's.
Grant Fisher just ran 27:11 for 10K and this is our weakest event. We will have multiple guys run under 13 for 5K in the next 12 months.
The USA team is on the rise.....
Good point and accurate.

This is so uninformed. Jake Wightman, Josh Kerr and Oliver Hoare wouldn’t have a chance at making our 1500 team? Christ.
Aren’t the only two NCAA runners who have run 3:34 in the past year from the U.K. and New Zealand?

Fine runners. Not Olympic podium runners but pretty good. Not better than our crop of up and coming superstars.
Again. Copper Teare just dropped a 3:50 Mile...........
How many NCAA championships does Oliver Hoare have?

More than Teare. I am now convinced that you’re trolling me, so I’ll bow out of this argument.
Pretty much. And then after 4 years of training you switch over to some other guys system for the next 4 years. The big problem is that a good chunk of the HS coaches just aren't really good. They were hired to be teachers not coaches . You get a few good ones and a lot of mediocre ones.

Last I checked he has more than every single runner on the Oregon team put together....

I believe this post is alluding to the fact that the field was one of the weakest ever.
This is a somewhat valid point.
This year will be more telling and will reveal whether Brazier is truly the heir apparent to Rudisha or not.
....Or whether one the new crop of brits, yanks, or aussies will displace Brazier.
Are any of these guys (except for Amos) even close to Rudisha?
The reality is Rudisha had 10 of the fastest 20 ever 800 races under his belt at the same age as Brazier is now (Brazier has one of the top 20, the 1:42.34)
And all before the super shoe era.
As far as the 1500 goes, the US vs UK vs Australia is moot.
At best, these three countries are vying for Bronze medal at best.
1, Cheruiyot
2. J Ingebrigsten
3. ???
You don't think Mo Aman's win in 2013 may have been the weakest WC ever with Nick Symmonds as the runner up two tenths behind and running a full second slower than Brazier?
Or Pierre-Ambroise Bosse winning ahead of Adam Kszczot and Kipyegon Bett in 2017?
Mbulaeni Mulaudzi winning in 2009.
Alfred Kirwa Yego finsihed ahead of Gary Reed in 2007 in a winning time of 1:47.09.
Do you remember the great Djabir Saïd-Guerni winning in 2003?
Was Brazier's 1:42.34 championship record run the weakest win ever?
He beat Ferguson Rotich who has a PR of 1:42.54.

Mulaudzi, Kirwa Yego and Saïd-Guerni aren’t Kipketer or Rudisha but they all were really legit:

I don’t get it?
Before my time so I don’t really know much about it, but the results here look like a good solid world championship final. Nothing exceptional, but solid
Konchella totally doped, I doubt a rapist would have any moral standards to not inject himself with crap if he's going to do that
800m:
1. Giles
2. Brazier
3. Hoppel.
1500m:
1. Ingebrigtsen
2. Wightman
3. Hoare / McSwayne

It’s my pick for weakest WC 800 final.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/800_metres_at_the_World_Athletics_ChampionshipsOn the 800m, Giles ran a very impressive time indoors, but Brazier won the WC in what I believe was a meet record, 1:42.34, and Hoppel looks just as strong right now. I don't think that the Brits can compete with either of them outdoors with rounds. Too bad Berian and Murphy (especially Berian) have fallen off from their top shape, but even Murphy may well be sub 1:44 again this year. So, if you look at that record, we'll likely have three who have run sub-1:43 by the Olympics (or there with Hoppel), and all three would be in sub 1:44 shape, whereas only one of the current Brits has gone sub 1:44. America takes it despite the outstanding and growing British depth.
At the 1500m, the Aussies and Brits are coming along strong and it may be too soon yet to see the fruits of the current American hs and collegiate crop at the Olympics. Centro beat all these guys and the world in 2016. We need him still. Lomong is probably going at 5 and/or 10, instead of 15, though he'd still be competitive at 15. Jager would have made a strong 15 runner, with a pr of 3:32.97 in an Oregon setup race early on. Who says he wouldn't have run 3:30 in Monaco in his best form? Kessler's still several years away. Teare will challenge for the team, as will Hocker. Engels has not developed that sub-3:34 form that was expected, yet. Brazier's move into the 1500m would change the balance of power if it happened. He's running a qualifier shortly. Grice hasn't proven himself in rounds at championships. Ben Blankenship will challenge for the team if healthy but hasn't shown 3:32 ability. We're a lot stronger at 5000m right now than 1500m with our best current pro coach emphasizing the former.
Brazier and Hoppel are going 1-2 in the 800 in the Olympics in some order and nobody is touching them. Sorry UK.
As far as the 1,500 goes, the UK team may very well be better than the US team. Kerr, Wightman, Grice, and O'Hare mean a very good runner is not going to make the team. Australia team will be really good too. McSweyen and Hoare would be strong contenders to make it through the heats, and I think McDonald could too if he focuses on the 1,500. The difference though, is that Hoare is the only one between the two countries that I could see medaling. Cheruiyot and Makhloufi have insane finishing speed. Hoare is the only one that is even close to that.
For the US, is Centro healthy? Will Engels race smart? What will Teare do against international competition? The US very well could completely flame out in the 1,500. What if the US team is Engels, Gregorek, and Prakel? Woof. Engels is the only one of them making the final.
On the flipside, the US team still has a crazy high ceiling. Centro is reigning Olympic champion and is one of the smartest racers around, tailor-made for the heats. Engels has the closing speed necessary to medal. So does Teare.
