I occasionally run on a dirt service road along some RR tracks as a shortcut to a road where I do hill repeats. It's about a mile one way on this dirt service road besides the RR tracks.
There is no sign prohibiting people or even vehicles from accessing this dirt road. There is no gate or fence to cross. There is a simple gravel connection about 100' long from a paved road up to this dirt srrvice road. Occasionally but rarely, I'll see a service truck from the RR up on this dirt road.
I've run on this dirt road about once every week or two for the 3 years I've lived here, until several months ago when a grumpy old man in a service truck told me not to run there. I didn't argue with him. I just nodded and ignored him and finished my run since I was almost exitting as he stopped me. But I haven't run there since.
What kind of trouble could I get in if I continue to run there once every week or two? It's such a great shortcut.
I don't know if I could get arrested for trespassing or something. Like I said, there are no signs, fences, or gates to prohibit anyone from accessing that dirt road. But I imagine it's the property of BSNF since it's right next to their tracks.
