lmao that’s facts, half of the BYU team is married with kids.
Two years older at most if they took a two year break to go on a mission.

Two of the runners Nico beat just broke 13:30 for 5k indoors
22:30 8k xc and beat Grijalva who beat virtually everyone recently a few months ago. I think Nico is in the mix. Especially because so many athletes just got the Olympic standard that will make the Olympic trials more tactical and will give Nico a chance to sneak a third place finish.

You will probably see the news on the letsrun homepage before it appears on this thread, but I will try to remember to let you know when it happens.
13:24 in the 5000 m and I still think the 10k is his better event.
Could a 13:24 5k runner pop a 27:28 in the right race?
A 13:24 translates to about 27:52 so he’s definitely still a ways off but I think he is more of a 10 k runner than a 5k based on XC this season.

Im going to screen shot this and start a thread when Nico runs under 13:25 and competes at the Olympic Trials.
Sub 13:25

Just ran 13:24.
I think the Olympics is too much of an ask for Nico this year. Hopefully, like in cross country, he can again finish in the top four at the NCAA's (5,000m and/or 10,000m). Maybe Nico can be a contender for the World Championships team next year.
By the way, Jakob (born in 2000) ran 13:17.06 at the European Championships in 2018. In 2019, he ran 13:02.93 and finished fifth in Doha.
That all being said, expectations are very high, everyone's watching, and we all need to support our incredible talent, especially when they are young and they don't PR or have a bad race.

Maybe the 10000 will be his best event but he's not going to make the Olympic Team. He has a lot of years of improvement ahead of him and if I'm Mike Smith, I'm not going to have a 19-year old Nico pounding through 25 laps on the track.

I'M BACK.............. AND NOW YOU CAN EAT YOUR WORDS. Look who is wrong
Nico with a very impressive 9th place finish. Clearly not good enough to make the team but really much higher up than many people on here gave him credit for.

What is the most stupid running advice you've ever heard?🤣(It can be funny)
Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
