Definitely a solid opener. It was a really good lane, though. Basically a three turn race and starting on top of a tiny hill. It was certainly slower than running outdoor, but not as much slower as say a 200m flat track on an inside lane would be. Maybe a half second slower than an outdoor time would be.
As others have pointed out, also ran it solo. For some athletes, that hurts them, for others it actually doesn't really matter. In hs he basically had no competition, I haven't seen any indication that he runs faster with competition.
But yeah, the smack talking is dumb. He is doing well, nothing really to raise or lower his stock at this point.
