You are jealous of the lifestyle but you are also unwilling to put in the work. Why don't you spend3-4 years building a youtube channel so you don't have to work super hard and get to live a luxury lifestyle?
The era of mysterious monk like training for runners is over. People are media hungry. And if track and road racing is going to really mainstream, then the more bloggers the merrier.
Covid and doping are killing the sport. I think these videos are easy was to expose others to the sport and lifestyle. I was working and raising my legs in the office and people thought I was crazy. If you tell them about Ben True the are like ,who the f is that... Show em a video and they are like ok i get it.., or maybe they start running.
I think there's two effects here:
1) The edited video doesn't paint the whole picture. Shots of making coffee, pretty sunrises, running through empty woodland etc make for good viewing, get ratings up and increase the chances of advertising revenue. What ends up on the cutting room floor are the endless dull miles with no view, the hours spent staring at an empty gym as you lift the hundredth weight holding good posture, or the negative medical effects of distance running such as insomnia, amenorrhea or simply injuries and niggles: nobody wants to watch a video of any of that! People do want to see positive vibes.
2) Most You Tube bloggers are not elites, they're advanced amateurs or just sub-elite.
