Naming schools after politicians (or even people, now that I think of it) is dumb anyways. 60% of voters voted AGAINST Lincoln!
I agree. I'd like to see every school around the country renamed in the manner of the schools in NYC. PS1, PS2, PS3 and so on. "Go PS238! We're #1 - uhh #238!"
Yea, but then people complain and debate about the number, and there would be issues about certain numbers being used. Like PS69. I see lots of problems here. Immature kids and the number 69? What about PS666? The number of the beast. Or PS420? Hitler’s birthday and its association with marijuana. PS1? Who gets that designation? What if it’s a majority white school? Why are they #1?
And would the schools all be confined to using whole numbers? Can a school be PS11.5? How about math numbers i and e? Psi? PSe? Or better yet pi. That’s PS3.14159265358979323846264338327950…. or abbreviated as PSpi since the public school number would be too large for uniforms, marquees, etc. And where do you cut off the number at? Then there is PS2. In numerology one of the meanings of two is femininity. I see lots of problems here. I’m not sure if masculinity is associated with a number, but if so then we would have an even bigger problem.
Whatever the number(s), they can be associated with numerology meanings, angel numbers, Biblical numbers, chemical codes, police and penal codes (imagine 187), spiritual meanings, and online “slang” numbers. Regarding the latter, 404 means clueless or unable to find. 807 means extreme lack of common sense or knowledge. When PS 404 plays PS 807, I guess both teams are losers. So this whole idea of schools by number is a bad idea.
