Did anyone mention Art Dulong
Did anyone mention Art Dulong
Dave Dunham has to be on this list.
2nd level does not make the cut
while not a contender for all-time best...I have to think Michael Banks would be up there for HS at least. 153/411/905 for times has to have him aroudn 10th give or take i wuold think for alltime hs greats in mass.
Joel Legare for college would have to be up there i would imagine. He's ran 147.98 while at Uconn and 2:21.35 in the 1k, as well at 148.1 indoors in the 800 and a 3rd place finish at US nationals. Pretty accomplished mass guy for being only 22 so far and wouldn't be surprised to see him drop some impressive times in his sr year at Uconn.
Nobody's mentioned Ari Lambi for girls? Set a NR in the 1k indoors, ran 437 in the mile unchallenged, 1010 in the 2mile unchallenged. SHe's probably the greatest Distance runner ever out of a Mass HS.
Lambi good one. How about Mark Coogan and Lynn Jennings
Yea i think someone mentioned Jennigns already. She definatly has to be on there right with Lambie who both ran for the same school. It has to be those ridiculous hills out in Harvard that make those girls so good. I ran a 10 mile race out in Harvard and sometimes you'd be going up hill for almost a mile it seemed.
What about the O'Neil's? Aren't they from MA?
Lambie is following Lynn Jennings' strong footsteps. Jennings is probably the greatest distance runner out of a Mass high school. National high school titles plus all the success as an adult. Lambie close behind and the sky is the limit for her. Don't forget Darlene Beckford and Leslie Welch, too.
The o'neil's are from Milton High School

Check out Mr Hoffman's lists. What a labor of love...

Deena Drossin was born in Waltham.
Kevin Murphy was a beast in the 800m for BU, and I believe he went to hs in MA.
Andy Powell, should still be top-20 all time HS milers in teh US
Victor Gras
Although Randy Thomas may deserve a spot on the list (he was certainly one of the first to come to my mind), that list of his credentials gives new meaning to resume inflation. For example, "Thomas earned a berth on the 1980 U.S. Olympic team in the marathon." I'm pretty sure he was the seventh place finisher in the trials, and -- since no U.S. Olympic team went to the Games that year -- he clearly wasn't picked as a substitute to replace Sandoval, Durden, or Heffner. Also, a number of the record claims are not backed by the Association of Road Racing Statisticians.
Art Dulong was the best-- and a Holy Cross guy, too. But he wasn't The Cap.
what about Tom McCardle...
havent heard much since college but 28:14 10k is pretty nasty.
