It appears as if the high temp in Valencia will be about 80 degrees with a race time temp of about 70 degrees. This will likely cost Cheptegei the record unless the shoes are so magical as to negate this apparent weather handicap.

what is the humidity? 70 degrees will not make a difference it is after sundown with dry air.
just checked. humidity levels are mostly very low there right now. he should be fine.
Didn't people say this about Monaco, and it was hotter then.

Yeah but it is twice the distance.
Will this be broadcast for us plebs?
They should wait and do this with better weather conditions.
It is odd that posts are being deleted from this thread. Posts that mention that it will be about 74 at race time and likely no record.
Certainly a race time temperature of 73 degrees is not ideal for a 10000m race. Cheptegei will NOT get the record UNLESS he is in 26:05ish shape, as the weather is going to slow him down some.
They will go out at 26:10 pace with an idea to negative split it. For Joshua 70F is not bad at all, might cost him 5-10" but that is it. Given Addy Ruiter said he is in 25:5x shape.. Very likely we'll see a sub 26:10
No, it will not be too hot. It will be in the dark, which makes a big difference. You people always freak out about the heat, first at BTC meets, then Monaco, then the Doha 1500...
Just watch.

Let us not pretend that temperature does not matter. It does. Maybe Cheptwgei is now Superman. Have any of you ever raced at a high level? Temperature matters even in the dark.

I’m with Hardloper on this one. If the humidity is low and it’s after sunset, 73 F is perfectly fine for a 10k.
71F forecasted some 13h before the start, light winds and a dew point of 63-64F. Decent conditions
The dewpoint is 48 right now.
I think her will run between 26:10 -26:15

this record is softer than the 5,000m though.
if he's in shape, he'll get it.
Will it really though? 70 degrees should be well below than what he's to training in? Shouldn't he be acclimated? Unless he doesn't train in Uganda.
It is hotter than you'd like. They should have done it much further north to ensure the right weather. But the race'll be long after a 7:34 p.m. sunset and the dewpoint will be around 60 degrees, so it should be fine for Cheptegei. Maybe this leaves him a cushion for future wr attempts in ideal weather.
