Definitive proof that PEDs work. Add Dibaba's WR, and frankly most of the women's WRs.

Men's world record is 33 seconds slower than the flat time.
Women's world record is 38 seconds slower than the flat time. So no and that's ignoring the small barriers compared to respective hip height.

Lol you can’t seriously use the Chinese records. At best Dibaba’s 8:16 is the most legitimate time (also questionable) So, 28 seconds difference. 8:44 is a crazy record.
a lot of ppl saying the record is week which could be true. But if you consider someone like Colleen Quigley running 8:28 for a flat 3,000m, while having only a 9:10 steeple PR, with superior hurdling than most if not all of the east Africans, it makes you wonder if just any 14:40 5,000m running can run an 8:40

Why not? The legitimacy is quite comparable, isn't it?

Quigley was probably not in 8:28 flat shape when she ran 9:10 (the former was also one of these time trials that are very different from real messy competitions). Chepkoech's record is obviously suspicious, but she would probably run 8:22-24 flat in her best form (she ran 8:28 14:39, and she has also not come close to her 8:44 herself) and unlike most other east africans she is tall and has a decent technique. I'd also expect the American steeplechase women to break 9 min, if they can keep their shape of the last season and transfer it to the steeple. And obviously most 14:40 women would not be world class steeplers. But most world class steeplers run around 15:00 and 9:00-05 steeple, so if one gets a bunch of 14:40 with good transfer of abilities to the steeple, we would see more sub 9 times, but 8:44 is still very strong.

record isn't valid. Anyone who can run faster than coburn is likely doping according to her
Only a fool would not realize that 8:44 is the product of drug usage.
People seem to be saying either that 1) the record is weak or 2) must be a product of doping because it is too fast. Those views are not compatible at all.
I'm surprised Ayana's 10k hasn't entered the conversation. Closing in on Zatopek's best time.
