Yes, there will always be questions of doping, but this is the case for any world record. 8:44 is waaaay better than any other woman has achieved and most elites aren’t even near 9:00.

No the the event is weak compared to 5000 or1500.If every 5000m runner decided to steeplechase the wr would be 5-8 sec lower.
Agree. If more 14:40 runners gave steeple a shot, you would see a lot more times under 8:50
It is good.
Equals 7:52 for men. The womens steeple was a soft record.
Add about 11% to mens record max
43-47.73
3:26 -3:48.67
7:20- 8:08.4
26:08-29.00. Might see a 26:08 this year or next
No it isn't. Its 6" shorter than the men's barriers.
This.
They only have to make a little hop over those tiny hurdles.
I'm not saying it's a good record because the female WR and male WR are close. It's because none of the other female times are close.
You cant just consider how far away the competition is away from the wr, you must consider how competitive the event is. The 5000m is more competitive so there will be less of a gap between the wr and the top current athletes.
If it's a weak WR, then we'll soon be hearing about Mo Farah going for it.

A lot of whispers about that one....
But even if she is doping it is unlikely that she's the only top steeplechaser doing so... So she's still miles ahead.

xD

Monica Farah?
It's obviously a huge outlier in a comparably new event with little depth. Even Chepkoech's next mark is 11 secs slower. The best of the rest are clustering around 9 min. So 9 min is like ~14:20 in the 5k but the WR is not 9 but 16 secs faster in a shorter event, almost as far from typical times as the impossible Chinese 8:06 in the flat 3k.
Nevertheless, if more sub 8:30/14:40 females were good (or even trying) at steeple we would very probably see frequently 8:45-55. With the very good flat results of the American female steeplers, I'd expect at least one of them to clearly break 9 min next season.
record isn't valid. Anyone who can run faster than coburn is likely doping according to her

No question in my mind that it's 7:20 for 3k, at least for middle and long distance on the track.

Good one!

You mean, like Courtney Frerichs?
8.06 is stronger than 8.44 imo.
A men running 8.06 can run under 8'40 with good technique and strengh.
And the obstacles are lower for woman so the gap should be even smaller.
Komen 7.20 is the strongest for distance running and bolt overrall has the best WR imo.

Why do we always have to give unfair advantages to women? The hurdle heights are a joke. The circumference for the rim in WNBA is the same even though the basketball is smaller. Treat women just like men are treated.
