Hard disagree. Ari seems witty and entertaining. Much more of a character than Spence.

Agree. He’s a good sidekick.

61.1, 61.7, 60.4, 59.1. Pretty good result for a time trial with not many races I think.
I can't believe people are saying 4:02 is a good result. This is a guy who just signed a pro contract.
Brooks should have made him run these time trials before signing him. They probably are regretting their decision now.
I’m shocked how popular these youtubers are. I doubt Brooks is regretting it. Guy gets a lot of attention on here and obviously on YouTube.

I am shocked that WeJo runs a website and obviously still thinks it is 2009.

If pro contracts are popularity contests, why doesn't Brooks sign Ragen Chastain, the heaviest woman to ever complete a marathon? She got way more media attention than Spencer Brown ever will.

That's not a bad idea. There's a market for casual joggers, soccer moms, and those trying to lose weight.

Is he a character or just a guy trying to act like he is a character and trying way too hard. I can see both points of view.
That being said 7:51 is a real solid 3k time. It will be interesting to see if he can turn that into a solid 5k/10k/HM.

I think there is a noticeable difference between a pro contract and an endorsement deal. That being said aligning your brand with hippos is a risky move. You need to decide focusing on that niche is worth the risk of scaring off the other people that don't want to be associted with it.

#4 It has been said multiple times but his contract isn't a full contract. He has a tryout for 1.5 years to hit the times necessary to become a full team member. It's a good partnership for him (because his college times wouldn't have gotten him a team slot at this level) & for Brooks (views/clicks).
Realistically I wonder what the difference is between a contract and a tryout? I mean if they signed him to an 18 month contract at 5k/year with a bonuses for hitting time goals would that be any different than giving him a tryout where he is given access to coaching and support staff? What happens if he goes nuts and runs a 3:49 and makes the team. Is he stuck having to take that contract?
Spencer ran a 1:52 in his most recent time trial. Anyone here care to explain to us all how that's a good result too?
He ran 1:50 in high school so I guess only getting 2 seconds slower since then is pretty good.
As much as I hate Spencer and his douchebag haircut and that pimple on his forehead he reallllly needs to pop, the air quality was abysmal. I can only imagine running in that.
His excuse at the beginning of the kiwi was stupid and showed he wasn't mentally engaged though. I think that's the bigger issue rather than the time. He was obviously not ready to run, didn't care about the fact that he had an opportunity that most people dream of and just kind've shrugged it off. Now that I think about it, forget the air quality excuse. Dude is a loser.

It is pretty crappy:) You can make arguements about poor air quality, it not being a race, the upheaval of moving, and so on but at the end of the day it isn't too encouraging. I don't know why he didn't do any of the meets (didn't want to get on a plane?) that ran or who was doing his training program over the summer but this wasn't a step up from last year.....
I mean he was slow the first 200 and slow the first 400. Nothing to do with air quality there.
