The Timex Expedition with velcro band works well for me. Gives me all I need or want. Ok, maybe temp and altitude would be nice but I have temp on my phone and can easily find altitude.

One more vote for the Timex Ironman 50-lap watch. For me as well, the band goes first... but that's after 3+ years of daily, often twice-daily, use.
I recommend you take mile splits instead of kilometer splits.
I'd also nominate the timex ironman 50 lap. If you want something that's an upgrade (and it's available in your country, or are willing to buy off ebay), the current Seiko Super Runners (with or without solar) is probably the cream of the crop when it comes to non-GPS running watches.
I was firmly anti-GPS until i finally caved recently and got the Fenix 6 Pro, and I love it, but the Seiko Super Runners I had before it was by far the best non-GPS watch I've ever had after years of Timex Ironmans...

The Expedition has a velcro band which is why I got it instead of the Ironman. You're right though as the plastic bands wear out.
