good lord.....I even explained it to you.
Sounds like Big 10 is back pedaling today. They are clever. Threaten to take it away and all of the players beg to play instead of whining about money.
There's nothing clever about playing football in a pandemic. Season will still be a fail.

There will be no NCAA XC Championships this year. Even if the remaining 9 FBS conferences continue, expect all FCS (mid-major) programs to not participate in Fall sports.
There are 350 women's XC programs at the division 1 level. Between the Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, Pac-12, ACC, American, Conf-USA, Sun Belt, Mountain West you have 113 programs. Throw in Navy, Army, BYU, Gonzaga and one random conference and you have about 127 programs.
That's 36% participation, far below the 50% threshold the NCAA requires to host a championships.
Conferences MAY still compete and host championships.
A real long shot is that these conference may develop their own "national championship". But don't hold your breath on this one.
Then screw the NCAA's 50% threshold and just hold an open national championship with qualifying procedures decided by a coaches committee. The NCAA is such BS sometimes. Even the conference committees. The hierarchy gets out of hand sometimes and this pandemic is finally bringing light to it.
XC is such a low budget sport. All the athletic departments need to do is supply shoes, clothes for the freshman, and meals for trips. 3 regular seasons meets max and then conference. Keep the transportation low budget and only travel by bus. Stay in conference to reduce travel time and figure out a ranking system for a national championship, it doesn't have to be perfect. I feel like these higher ups in the NCAA aren't even trying or don't even care. If the individual coaches could take matters into their own hands this wouldn't be a problem.
Like what's the point in the average coach trying so hard if the higher ups in the NCAA don't care and are probably going to shut it down anyways without any coach input. I understand football is revenue generating, but let's not act like we can't get monetary recourses to put together a very low budget, reduced season. Let the kids run, they want to.
You must be a D3 guy. Power 5 conferences span thousands of miles. A team like Minnesota could run at Griak and Notre Dame and South Dakota all by bus. But if you want conference meets, 1/2 of the schools are outside of driving distance.

B1G just cancelled football, with rest of P5 likely to follow. Will all fall sports be cancelled (or postponed) and is NCAA XC for the fall going to be totally wiped out? Seems a little extreme.
one of the unintentionally funniest things I have ever seen.
"yeah...i get we are in the middle of a pandemic on its way to killing half a million Americans....but canceling my non-profit intramural fringe sport? ? ? ? ...seems a little extreme!"
For how long are you going to accept the rod up your rectum?

Most of the G5 conferences are spread across multiple regions and time zones anymore, too! Loss of football money is going to force schools to radically rethink conference alignment going forward.

Are you ok? If you are not, do you have someone to whom you can talk safely about whatever is troubling you?
Risk is risk moran
Yes and anyone who says otherwise is delusional
Florida has the oldest population in the US, and this is a virus that hits old people 100x harder than young people

Nope D1 guy. These teams don't have to travel that far during the regular season, they can go to inner conference teams within reasonable driving distance. And for the conference championships and nationals, I don't know what's wrong with a long road trip. Have we become that soft in 2020? Put natty's in a central location like Kansas. Teams don't have to drive far if they don't want to, I'm sure another team would go further than them for a spot at natty's.

Do not be concerned! This person has an imaginary friend available for discussion, and public quotes, at any time.

Thanks for confirming that LRC is populated by half-literates who don't even understand how their own language works.
