Heard multiple reports it’ll be shutdown this week.

Most likely.
Pac12 and Big10 meeting as we speak. Big 12 apparently meeting on Tuesday. I'm SHOCKED the ACC has not mentioned anything yet.
That study is junk. I remember what I believe was that study (or a similar study) from the early 2000s. I talked it through with my coach. While we were at one of the 12 or so that according to the study turned a profit, the cost are so convoluted that the study was a joke. With TV money doing nothing but go up in the last 20 years, I would be shocked if any P5 school doesn't turn a profit on football.
If the study counted up the free advertising they get as TV exposure, it would easily tip the scales. Also, if scholarships were counted with the marginal cost rather than full tuition, it would look more profitable.
The big hit on all levels is coaches' salaries. This would be the most likely cause keeping more teams from being profitable.

You may be referring to a different study. This one was completed in the last 5 or so years, and if I recall correctly, it took into account some of the items you pointed out were missing in the earlier study.
Perhaps the more recent study learned from the omissions in the earlier study you mentioned (and other like studies on collegiate athletics and finances) and included that in the report.

Imagine going to college TO GO TO COLLEGE.
Imagine running/playing in some other paradigm that is NOT COLLEGE.
That world would be a much better place.
It can be done as it was intended but football and basketball and the greedy money grabbing at the expense of the student athletes ruined it.
Looks like some ADs think this just can't happen...
Almost all fall sports are already on campus and going apart from xc which will start this week.
The testing protocols in place make it much less risky but much more expensive. That’s why D2 and D3 are out. There will be no big xc meets this year and most will be small regional meets or inter conference meets. But it’s happening as of now.

Just takes a few rona positives to shut this whole thing down. Now is not the time for sports. Just reevaluate in the spring.
Agreed. It’s time to pull the plug, seems like they will this week.
