Serious question, is doping control present at these little surprise events, or is it a surprise to them too?
If the latter, they should start inviting some surprise Europeans and Africans and we'll see even more amazing stuff.

You're just a pessimist. Of course you can read into these trials and find some good storylines to follow going into the Olympics. We have one more sub 12:50 man who can topple Edris' win streak. Hassan's chance at a gold in the 5000m just became more difficult with the greater challenge brought by the US in Schweizer. And if we get any more sub 4 runners this week, Dibaba and Hassan have even more difficulty in the 1500m. I can't wait to see what happens in Tokyo now
During the last WC there weren't all of these super fast times by so many people in the group. I figure they're in better shape now than the last WC (as shown by these blazing fast TTs), so they're a more likely medal threat now. That's why I said I'm glad we finally have a lot of athletes with times that stack up to the East Africans. Because in the recent past, we haven't had many. Now we have several more.
It can be a huge mental barrier knowing that your PR is 15 seconds slower than your opponents when you go into a race. Now these athletes have a time way faster and the mental boost that comes with it. Besides, I really like fast times.

Just so you know. He represented kenya from 2000-2004 so by my math that is 4 years. someone can tell me if I correctly added that up.
He has been representing america from 2005-2020 so 15 years.
You guys have to stop this who "ReAl AmEriCan" thing to invalidate real american's representing us. The only real american's by your standards if actually applied to all northern americans are native americans. This is literally a country of immigrants.
The standard I have for someone who should be eligible for US records is someone born as a citizen of this country. Maybe if they were brought here at a young age too.
Schedule shows
Women 1500 7:30 PM PDT
Men 1500 7:40 PM PDT
Men 600 8:10 PM PDT
Women 600 8:20 PM PDT
Mixed 4x400 8:45 PM PDT
I'm surprised that they're not going for a sub-9 steeple. Frerichs and Quigley (who ran 8:28 indoors) are in shape to do it, based on their pacing work in the 14:23 race. Quigley was an absolutely outstanding pacer, hitting those laps like a metronome, which shows that she was in shape to go faster with a pacer.
I'm really sorry that they're not going to go to Monaco. Maybe Moh will, because he's a Canadian citizen and not affected by bans on the U.S. But I would think that going to train in the mountains in Europe with a quarantine two weeks out and negative tests might be enough to get them permission.

Or maybe if they legally become citizens they are citizens. Other people want to live here too. With your logic grant Fisher is canadian

There is not going to be much international steeplechase but I thought Shelby, Karissa and maybe also the two best male 5k runners from BTC would start in Monaco in August?
Europe has banned travelers from the US so no Monaco.
Travel bans are for the little people on tourist visas. If they wanted to get in Monaco they could find a way.
Question: Do you think the athletes are getting the performance bonuses in their contracts for these intra-squad meets?
I know that the races are set up to be legal for record purposes; that's why some of the pacers jog it in when they've finished their pacing duties. I know that most athletes' contracts have incentives in there for many things -- qualifying for USAs, placing at USAs, winning USAs, qualifying for the Olympics, medaling at the Olympics -- including, often, time bonuses. Any word on whether these "meets" count for the contract incentives?

Of course they do.

This race has been posted on Dyestat's home page and calendar page for the past few days.
In a podcast last week with a Missouri-based media outlet, Karissa mentioned the team has two more races left, the next being "next Tuesday or Friday" with the intent being to go after prs and national records. Dyestat and now CQ have confirmed it's on Tuesday (7/21).
Like the last BTC intrasquad meet, this one will also be broadcast live on USATF.tv (subscription required).
So 1 more meet after Tomorrow? 1500's are Tomorrow, so Maybe Steeples The Following week? I doubt they would run a 10000, so Maybe a 3000 or another 5000?
Here are the start lists, just posted a few hours ago on Monday (7/20):

Looks like the 600s come first, then the 1500s, then the 4x400 relay (really?!).
I would expect Shelby to race her 600 then come back and pace the 1500.
Believe Karissa & Colleen have excellent chances to break 4.
.
At USA Indoors back in Feb, Colleen outleaned Karissa for 2nd, 4:08.30 .to 4:08.32 -- at 5300' in Albuquerque. What is that, altitude adjusted to 4:03s? Karissa just cruised a 4:02 with Shelby a few weeks ago.
Big Q: can Elise take 6 seconds off her 4:05.+ pr and join them? She just lowered her 5k pr by 37 seconds so why not?
If all 3 break 4, pretty sure that would be a first for US women's miling. In fact, I don't believe the US has ever had 3 women under 4 in the same year, much less the same meet.
Bowerman Babes have been performing miracles all year so why stop now?
Eh a 600, really? Nothing appealing about that.
So 1 more meet after Tomorrow?
Yes -- next/possibly final BTC intrasquad meet I am guessing on 7/31 (Fri). That would follow the every 10 days Tue - Fri scheduling to date.
Don't think Steeples are in the offing. In fact, one likely reason that Evan & Colleen have been healthy for almost/over a year now is that they have not been doing Steeple training.
Shelby mentioned in her podcast that they have talked about doing 2ks or 3ks. Since everyone will have opportunities tomorrow to set prs in the 600 as well as on their 400 legs, I would expect them to run 2ks after this. Another chance to rack up more prs before they head off into the off season. Just my guess.

I’d love to see moh take a shot at the 2k (4:59) and 3k (7:40) outdoor CR in the same race.
Correction: 1500s first -- then 600s -- then relay.
No national records expected since those times are (men): 3:27/US, 3:28/Great Britain,
3:31/Canada along with Shelby's 3:54.
Would be fantastic to see a slew of sub-3:40s -- in particular, McGorty & Fisher seem ready for prs here, maybe even something close to 3:35.
Frerichs should have been a gold contender for several championships but hasn’t come close. Jager has forever been on the cusp of legendary status but was always a bit short. Houlihan should have been a medal contender last year but was no where to be seen. Kincaid ran one of the top US times in history before the the WCs and yet he wasn’t on the team.
Every single one of these athletes would benefit greatly from racing more regularly. And this isn’t just a COVID thing; Jerry is known for doing this. Is it any coincidence that the top track runners in history constantly race? They don’t have their whole season hinging on a single race. They gain experience racing/running hard before finally peaking and blasting a good one.
nobody on BTC will run a steeple this year. It carries a lot of risk for impact injury. Plus it seems even harder to push 100% over barriers by yourself than it would be to run 100% in a flat event.

4th (0.61 sec from Bronze) and an AR is hardly “nowhere to be seen”. You’re just being dramatic now. Get ahold of yourself, Bubbles.

While I agree that they should race more frequently, this seems quite unfair. Houlihan did race several times in the DL and perform well in 2018 and she performed extraordinarily well in the 2019 Doha final, but with the bad luck that a dream time of 3:54.99 was not enough to medal.
And Frerichs's Silver was maybe the biggest surprise of the 2017 WC (some luck was involved with mishaps of other athletes). If you look at the last 5 years, Frerichs was in no way as consistently good as Coburn, so one could not expect two medals in a row and the field was deeper in 2019. Again I agree that she should maybe have raced more often and it might have been given her an edge over Krause and others for Bronze.
