Does anyone know when this announcement is supposed to happen?

Expect it around 12-1pm I’d say.
I think the issue for HS sports is the state sports committees, not the sports itself. I live in massachusetts and had 5 hours of baseball yesterday, but just because sports are allowed doesn't mean the MIAA , or your states organization, will allow HS sports.
What is not being discussed on this forum is the new evidence regarding COVID infections in younger people. While not killing them outright like elderly populations, it is causing chronic respiratory issues and kidney disease. That will have long term implications on quality of life and for the economy. So football and volleyball players, runners, and gymnasts won't suddenly keel over but, needing a kidney transplant/dialysis or losing aerobic function will effectively end your career and limit your life choices moving forward.
This isn't just another flu, bruh.
My question since this thread appeared is simple - if the Ivys have made a decision on this why the suspense and count down for the announcement?
Why not just issue a statement and be done with it?
So many strange actions have taken place during this entire pandemic.

Simple. They coaxed us along until the last minute. So many athletes who were already working so hard to get fit again. Doesn’t matter, all govt agenda.

The Mass. Governor has stated that Phase 4 will not begin for an extended period of time. Phase 4 includes road races so I assume that includes high school XC.

Wednesday is a typically slow news cycle. Having a press conference on a Wednesday afternoon will ensure wide coverage and potentially being “above the fold”.

Well, yes, of course I can see the reason publicity angle but really this is about a virus and real life issues. It's not the NBA draft or something.
That is what I mean about strange actions surrounding this whole mess we are dealing with.
Correction:

I have plane tickets to Massachusetts in August and I just received a notification that all out of state visitors to Massachusetts are required to self isolate for 14 days after arriving as of July 1st. It's stuff like that that will make college athletics impossible.
If that is actually true than those people have far bigger problems than whether or not races will happen for one year. What will be the "one aspect of their life they have control over" when their four years of eligibility is over? The sport isn't going away, anyone can walk outside and go for a run. It just won't be an actual season.
This virus has many ill effects besides just killing people and it is far more serious than "the flu". It needs controlled and that means not having people travel to meets or attend class on campus as much as possible. It is for the best.

sports can continue right now, so in theory HS xc could happen for Mass, with some restrictions/modifications. However, it's up to the MIAA, not the governor. Phase 4, the "new normal" won't come until there's a vaccine or effective treatment.

Road race and multi-sport companies are closing up shop. Police rates will probably double since police budgets are getting cut. Feel bad for the companies like Setup, FitX, etc that are losing their shirts.

They knew that if there was a pandemic like this that it would be bad for business. Can't feel bad for someone for taking a risk and feeling the effects after the fact. Maybe next time pick an industry that isn't so easily crippled.

Lately the MIAA has been attempting to justify their existence by coming up with new formats and alignments for conferences, schedules and tournaments. A bunch of useless excessively compensated hacks.

Couldn't agree more.
Looks like that announcement isn't happening after all.
