His second 5,000 would have been a WR up until 1982.He ran his second 5,000 faster than Rono ran one!!
Go to your local HS track and run 15.8 for 100meters(watch your leg turnover)then do it 99 more times.
I wish I could run 26:17, for an 8k!
So he was actually behind record pace at the 9k split: 23.75 min./ .9 = 26.388 (26:23.33).
And he needed at least a 2:34.8 last 10k to break 26:20.
He beat that by just 2.4 seconds, and apparently all of that was in the last lap 57.
Elsewhere here it was reported his last 100 was kicked in 12 sec., so the margin of the record was attained entirely within that last 100 meters. (He lowered his record a total of 2.78 seconds)
So does anyone have his splits from his previous WR last year?
whats the mile pace for a 1309 5k ?
black LIGHTNEN strikes AGAIN.
4:13 ish

Not exactly.
KB's 2nd 5K (13:08.34) was indeed faster than HR's first WR (13:08.4) but not his 2nd (13:06.20) (1981, fat and hungover - let's see KB or Geb do that!).
