What a crazy time we live in. An American just ran 12:56 in a Diamond League and I view it as a disaster.
If you have the ability to rewind, go do it. Woody Kincaid ran THE GREATEST last lap in history for someone who was 15th at the bell. If I counted right, he was 15th and like more than 10 meters behind the pack.
He closed in 54.55 - I wonder if that was faster than the leaders - and finished 6th.

I don't think Cheptegei has ever gotten back to his 2020 and 2021 form. He may never get back there again. He was struggling in the last 200. He probably would've been 3rd if he had positioned himself better throughout but I don't think he was going to close with Katir and Kejelcha today.

I’d say it’s a different system. Some people always have the kick in them regardless of how the rest of the race feels to them. More of a matter of explosiveness vs endurance

Interesting the top 2 are probably the guys who’ve run the most impressive 3ks closing crazy fast to run and win 7:26-27 races. Makes some sense this wasn’t all kick it was a blazing fast last K. The race totally would've suited Jakob based on it being advantageous for that. Less good for the strength-based guys.

Klecker got checked and lost all momentum when Almgren fell. Would have been up with Woody if not. He'll take a lot from that.

I have my own analysis about this.
Until now Katir was suffering from exhaustion in his races, it's not about the kick.
I think Jakob still have the best kick of the two. But we will see in Budapest if Katir runs the 5000m there.

Northern California runner beating all expectations, so many post on how Californians burn out after high school. Now down to 12:52 and wasn’t just hanging on. He was racing with the worlds best, just like last year in Eugene.
I agree with you, he has lived in the USA all but the first year of his life.
