Every knows of the 9:01.8 race from 2019. Who recalls the 9:32.9 from Dr Sander in 2020 which had so many saying she was "done"? That was when she hit bottom from the pressure on her. This result is almost 1 minute faster than that.

So where is Tuohy going to attack the 5k record? For indoor or outdoor. Outdoors would be good to get her in a pro race so she can try and hit the standard, if she feels ready.

These numbers are overly conservative since conversions of indoor to outdoor times already gets you there, and a bit more.

Those are the world championship standards, not a prediction of what she could do. Sorry if that wasn't clear. She needs to have run faster than 14:57 5k to hit the standard for 2023
