I'm watching this on peacock, no commercial , if this 3000m was on NBC, at least 2 commercials breaks
Sometimes they show athletics between the commercials.
Just checked the schedule. The steeple prelim is on 8/19 and the final is on 8/22. The 5000 prelim is on 8/24 and the final is on 8/27. Very doable for Girma, but Ethiopia hasn't let many athletes double in recent years.

He should go back to the 400

That would be great if he would be allowed to double. He's having a career year and his fitness aligning with this opportunity does not happen often.

no USA runner for 3000m......sad
They’ll be in Rome. Why fly 20+ hours for a 7 minute rust buster?

Yeah. WTH. I had him down to win.
Cory sub-4 watch... so patient!
Nevermind

Looks like jet lag to me. I keep telling athletes they can't get off a plane the day before and expect to perform.
So much for the McGee hype.

Where's Dos Santos? No-show Warholm and Sydney are two peas in a pod. 🙄
It's kind of hard to be a "no-show" when you're not on the start list to begin with. 🙄
Damn, Koko looked rough. Did she get spiked? The hit the bell and she immediately just started moving backwards.
Kipyegon is a magnificent runner. I thought she would open with a 4.02. I was wrong. She did her business and made it look effortless.
Kipyegon is the biggest lock to win her event in Budapest of any other T&F athlete, bigger than even Mondo or Crouser I think. It is not conceivable she will lose unless she is gravely hurt or ill. Well, maybe Syd is a bigger lock, but it is close.

Her running form is flawless. Poetry in motion.
Don’t see anyone beating her at 1500 worlds again. She should move up for a challenge

Sha'carri looking normal for the second time? 👀 Is she finally taking this seriously?
I definitely think she is taking it seriously. The airplane incident from earlier in the year may have been a wake up call for her and I suspect that Dennis Mitchell and Renaldo Nehemiah gave her a "come to Jesus" talk and let her know in pretty harsh terms to get her sh!t together.
Last week in another thread I said that is SCR gets her act together that I will consider her one of the favorites to win the WC this year. I got badly downvoted but I stand by that and this result today affirms my belief. It's a long season and she has a history of disappearing when it matters but perhaps she IS serious now.

All you crybabies who lie awake at night worrying about men in women’s athletics don’t seem upset that the women are almost trying to make themselves like men in order to succeed.
