She is. 8:30 is getting down there. Major PB for her as well. She is going to be a factor at USAs this summer.
She lives at altitude (as do many of the pros these days). What could Tuohy do if she moves to altitude?!
The pros are smiling but deep inside they are concerned. Tuohy is just 10 seconds away from the American record and she's 4-6 years younger than the top American distance runners.
Note: Tuohy is not training like a professional runner. I repeat, Tuohy is not training like a professional runner. She goes to school and her workouts are almost the same as her teammates. She also does not train at altitude like all the top professional runners.

Katelyn Tuohy is something else. She's unreal.
Excellent point…didn’t see the joy in Monson’s face of 2 weeks ago…and I didn’t see Orton congratulating Tuohy at all (perhaps I missed it). 2 races and 2 collegiate records go down by substantial amounts (not tenths). The pro’s must be more than a bit concerned. Tuohy moved passed Cranny as if she was just another mediocre competitor. She was asked about it and smartly responded to the effect of not being aware of it. Very diplomatic but probably didn’t do much to reduce the anxiety of the other pro’s. Even Elly Henes may be a bit unhappy since I don’t recall Tuohy beating her, to date, til now. I felt and stated that KT had progressed beyond Henes without much acknowledgement from others here. Only Semi agreed and he seems to have some inside scoop that the rest of us don’t have. Very interesting. Since I saw her race as a Sr. in HS, destroying a 100 pro’s at Lehigh, I knew she was a generational talent. There are others, who are very talented, in the NCAA, but Tuohy is on another level.

great post but oh my god, im not a HE
huhuhu lol
Sorry about that…too many assumptions, I guess, lol
I would say they both had awesome races relative to their respective goals. Monson set the AR. Tuohy smashed the NCAA record and ran with confidence against a high caliber pro field.
Who would you say had the better race, Tuohy or Monson? Are there any Monson fans out there?
katelyn climbing up to the lead pack was so impressive, every time she passed a runner, the commentator goes crazy and the crowd erupts... it must've be electrifying to see that in person!
the commentator was the same commentator when katelyn broke 5 in the mile as a 12 year old which was a middles school armory meet record and national age-group record i think,
im a new fan but i know that has got to feel very special for all the people that watched her grow, the sport grew with her, shes been breaking records since middleschool, then high school and now in college!
