Why are many American pro-runners congratulating Shalane today, but none did so to Hasay last month?

If Shalane can't fully congratulate Jordan, then I can't fully "feel good" or congratulate Shalane. I have more reason to believe that JH is clean than I do Shalane - after all, no one is monitoring her training group as closely as they are NOP.

Still, I'm happy Shalane won - but I just don't know if she is 'clean' and suspect we'll never really know...

Jordan offered her full congratulations and best wishes because she has more class in her little pinky, than Shalane has in her whole body.

I'm actually more skeptical of Shalane's training group than I am of the NOP. Very little (if any) monitoring of her group while NOP has been under the microscope for well over a year. If anything, it is more likely that Jordan is "cleaner" than Shalane.

I propose that someone offer a straight-up $1 million payoff to Jordan vs. Shalane at Boston in April, with very rigorous independent tests for doping +/- 3 months around the event.

BTW - I'd bet on Jordan. Sorry - but just don't think Shalane can hang with someone determined to grind out a sub 2:21.

These are Shalane's words. I think she worded it best. This is why no one was publicly congratulating Hasay the way there were to Shalane Flanagan today.

Nothing about Shalane not congratulating NOPers is "classless" she articulated exactly why she is hesitant to reach out.

This ^^ "cleaner" is the correct term. It's 2017, the age of technology..... can we really say that ANYONE is "clean" anymore. Sure, people play within the rules, but it's still a game of: If you have deeper pockets than your opponent, you can afford the best legal stuff money can buy.

I was happy for Jordan and I'm happy for Shalane. If the athletes in our sport could get back to their high school mentality of finishing a race, giving hugs and high fives, and getting on with their lives and training, everything would be better off.

I know she has a different image but objectively speaking Hasay is also suspect. She could not make NCAA's in 2013 then turns around and gets a silver at USA 10,000 meters 4 weeks after joining the NOP. That was also the year washed up Trenire Moser (and where is she?) was on who knows what and Mary Cain was unstoppable.

Hasay has the PR side figured out but she chooses to be with Salazar for a reason.

Yes - Shalane may have won today, but I don't really give her 'credit' because she clearly bested a Keitany who was running on 'less than a full tank.' I'd give her more credit if she won NY with a fast time. Instead, she really benefited from Keitany holding everyone back with SUPER SLOW PACE until late in the race.

I'd bet Molly Huddle is saying, "WTF," I'd have won easily today knowing that it came down to outracing Shalane over the last 8K.

She won. Hasay got third.

It’s really pretty simple - bitter JEALOUSY. Hasay is young, attractive, VERY talented, and worst of all - CLASSY. Shalane is 47 years old and been around forever - it’s a feel good story.
