FLN I'm saying

1. Fisher hes extremely fit has very very fast finishing speed and above all else is very threatening winning so many meets and being the outstanding favorite has to weigh on the other runners. I don't think hes physically in much better shape then the competition but I think mentally no one will be able to hold him off.

3. Ostberg

and I think Mantz would have won if he was healthy... I think he is the hardest working highschooler since Saarel and I think hes seriously talented but he blew up this season.

NXN

1.Anderson I really don't see anyone challenging him

2.Reiser

3.Millar, I've raced him and he is seriously fit and is extremely consistent but I don't see the FM coach wanting him to run an extremely risky race and stay in contention with Anderson and jeopardize FM's title.

Apparently nobody saw Ostberg's interview on Flotrack? He's been injured since New Englands.

Yet he still dominated and ran a 15:18 on a very difficult course. He was less than 10 seconds away from the course record which was set in 2007. Clearly his injury wasn't a big deal and he has recovered from it. I think he'll be ready to go in two weeks.

Tamagno is really a stand-up guy, and I have a hard time believing that he would give up the chance for his team to race at NXN, unlike Maton. With that said, I think that his strength is a course like Balboa Park, as his Mt. SAC record can testify. He has great closing speed though, and I think that the climb at Balboa is steep enough and long enough for him to attack on, and he has a solid 600m to close afterwards. I would guess a top 3-5 for him at FL, as the field is incredibly deep and talented this year. Again, I have a feeling he will choose NXN if he is given the choice.

Tamagno was given a choice and it looks like he has decided to not race with his team at NXN and will be racing FL regionals next week.

He's not passing up the chance to run for a national championship; he's going to race at FL. I guess the intent of your question is a telling if you're a team player or not...

WRONG - This is the second time Tamagno has abandoned his team for personal glory. The first, was at the Mt.Sac Invitational last month where he moved up in the Division1 & 2 sweepstake race to achieve the course record, instead of running with his team in the Division 3 sweepstakes to do so.

Second, racing individually at Footlocker instead of running with his team (that wouldn't have qualified w/o him) at NXN. What's worst, he was even quoted saying "if my team qualifies for NXN then I will run NXN with my team, if it doesn't then I will do Footlocker". Stand-up guy???

Why can't these guys (Tamagno & Maton) just wait for track season to achieve their personal glory instead of abandoning their XC teams when the need them most? My guess is, they all want a piece of the Grant Fisher pie, and don't mind riding on his coat tails to get their share of the spotlight!

Tamagno got the team to NXN last year.

The coach does not want to hold Tamagno back.

He should race the best... and the best will be in San Diego.

Tamagno abandoned his team three times this year. First at the Mt. SAC invite (the team raced and won the DIII race while he ran in the DI race), then at CIF Prelims (he sat out to rest up for the long post season) and now he ditched his team to run at FL.

If I was on Austin's team I would be PISSED if he decided to run NXN instead of the national championship. I would absolutely want him to go to San Diego and beat some ass.

You all realize that they would have to beat Anderson at NXN? If the footlocker champion is less than 10 seconds of Dressel, the national crown would go to Anderson (assuming he wins nxn).

When do we see the final list of competitors for NXN? I heard some of the kids that qualified for both NXN and FL will be skipping the NXN meet to concentrate on FL. I'm hoping that is not the case.

That is incorrect - the national champion is the runner who wins the national championship race, which is in San Diego. What happened between Dressel and Anderson in lesser races this year is moot.

Anderson needs to call an Audible and head to SoCal. If I were his coaches, thats the conversation I'd be having with him right now.
