I always like the way Gidey approaches distance races. So much more sensible than people going out at bizarre way too overly ambitious paces and dying in the late stages. Also, her form is just absolute poetry in motion.
Very intrigued to see how Milkesa Mengesha fares in his debut. 22 years old, 12:58/27:00 PRs, and looked great running 58:58 to win the Copenhagen half.
67:18 for Gidey and Beriso. They just ran 15:47 for 15k to 20k, which is the first 5k split under WR pace (15:53). Everything going to plan so far for Gidey. She's never raced beyond the half before, so every step now is uncharted territory for her.
Gidey is showing what super shoes, super talent and super PEDs can do. She will never come close to the 2:09 that Ghostnl suggested. Probably a 2:14-2:15 is her limit.
