The weather was undoubtedly the difference maker here. Super high humidity is no good for efficiency. Mix that with even slightly less traction with the road, and the body is wasting a TON of energy to run the same paces.

I think Monza did, he did not look as sharp as usual. But to be fair the conditions did seem to have an effect on the field.
Kipchoge is amazing. Although no WR, he certainly earned his 2 or 3 liters of Erdinger lager.

I dont think humidity has anything to do with it. Rain creates friction. Mainly on their feet, but i bet their balls being chewed up doesnt help the mental aspect
