Not many guys in the world are capable of going 25-30k at WR pace. Most of them are not going to skip a payday at a race to do that unless you pay them likewise.
1:36:16 at 33k (2:03:05 pace). The last kilometer was run in 3:01. WR pace, as a reminder, is 2:54.8/km. So they're now eight seconds down on WR pace thru 33km.
Good news is Kipchoge still looks great (when doesn't he?).

'the machine' has to negotiate an upcoming right turn, so he glances back to see if Adola is there, and to aknowledge/alert him for the turn.
'the machine' does not mind he is still there, for the final grind is still to come. he knows. he has been there already.

Apparently, they added in extra aid stations. That was something they supposedly learned from the sub-2 thing. But I think taking less water but more often makes sense but only if youaren't slowing down to pick it up. In italy, people handed it to you.

Kipchoge looking serious again. That's good. When he "smiles", it usually means he's straining.
