Mo ran a 3:28 1500m. I agreed with brojos when they listed this as the top reason why Mo wouldn't/couldn't win.

It is not a B-race. None of the top marathoners in the world would crack 26:50 - it is their stamina that is exceptional.
Do you think Kipsang or Kebede would be beat Rupp over 10000m? Slightly different ability to change pace and
run a fast last latp.

It's hard to understand why anyone expected much more of Mo. He ran 3:28 last year and wins the track races he does with his kick.
Other than Geb you have to go back to Zatopek to find a 10k gold medalist who has had great success in the marathon. And Zatopek really only had one great race, I think. Bekele might be another, but we don't know yet.
There's a reason why they choose marathon olympic teams separately and not just put the 10k guys on it. We saw that confirmed today.

As usual, El Keniano speaks the truth. Farah is vastly overrated and nowhere near KB, Geb or Zatopek. But he isn't 0-3 on the road; he won that race against Gebremarian, after which the TV anchor asked him if he'd ever run before.

Hard truth: He's nowhere near the best of of all time on the track (doesn't have the times) and most certainly not even in Paul Tergat's league, let alone Geb and Bekele . KB is the boss and smoked the field at the marathon on his first attempt. Compare that with Mo who's 0-3 on the road.

Except for 1-2 today, times were slow and somewhat disappointing. Perhaps the guys are cleaner now than in 2010-2012?

Yes, the Olympic 10,000 is now a B-race and should be cancelled.
The collective Kenyan and Ethiopian talent running 2:03-2:04 marathons and 58:xx half marathons would push Farah and Rupp's 1-2 out of the medals if they cared to run the track and could make more than a few thousand dollars at a time for running 26:30s on the track.
This is why it is smart for Farah to stay on the track where he can win races.
Rupp has Boston and its fixed fields to shine against, but London brings the best and Farah will never sniff these guys.

He converted speed to Stamina. which you can not do within a season.
